Meeting of the Advisory Board of All Chairs/Corners of SALU
On the directives of Prof Dr. Parveen Shah Vice Chancellor Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur the two consecutive day meetings of the advisory board of all “chairs/corners” of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur were held to review and assess the work of all chairs and corners (i.e) Sachal Chair, Rozay Dhani Chair, Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chair, Shaikh Ayaz Chair and Dr. Tanveer Abbasi Corner established at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur. The meetings were presided by Eminent Scholar Prof Dr. Ghulam Ali Allana. The special committee headed by Prof Dr. Ghulam Ali Allana eminent scholar, Mr. Nazar Mohammad Gaho Political Secretary to Sindh Chief Minister, Prof M. Saleem Memon Director Shah Abdul Latif Chair University of Karachi. The committee held three sessions 1st one was with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah. The Vice Chancellor briefed the committee about the present status of the chair and showed her concern on being non-functional and ineffective of the cited chairs & corners. Dr. Shah stressed to work hard considering as a national assignment. She emphasized to create new research plans. Dr. Parveen Shah also assured to provide all equipments, (i.e) Computers, Research Material from University fund as well as Govt. of Sindh will be approached to approve the revised PC-I and other schemes. They visited all the chairs and Corners. The Directors and Incharges presented their working and requested for availability of funds, resources, equipments, required staff and other facilities. The committee thoroughly discussed the various aspects and finalized the recommendations which were presented to Vice Chancellor for immediate action. The Vice Chancellor agreed to take immediate actions on the priority recommendations of the committee including long and short term programs, constitution of advisory committees of chairs and corners along with suggestion for the research and establishment of seminar libraries and digital libraries. The committee felt that without creating endowment fund the chair cannot work properly and smoothly therefore immediate request may be made to Sindh Chief Minister and government functionaries for funds for the endowment fund. It was also decided that P.C I may be prepared by the chairs with the help of Director Finance and Director Planning & Development for the submission to government for recurring and developmental programs. It was decided that the reprint of the rare books/manuscripts at Sachal Chair. Dr. Ghulam Ali Allan stressed that Museum and Digital Library must be established for Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Chair. The Chairs will produced research articles, Monographs or Books, on the subject, related to the special field of the Chair to understand personal research and supervise research students, to arrange special lectures. Eminent Personalities may be invited, both from within and outside the country, the Annual reports of the Chairs must be submitted to the Syndicate to the advisory committee. The accounts of income and expenditure related to the chair shall be maintained separately hence a separate bank account shall be operated jointly by the Director of the each Chair and Director Finance, in case of endowment fund. Annual budget will be prepared at the beginning of the each year for approval of the monitoring committee. The contingency of Rs. 10,000 will be advanced to the Director of the concerned Chair and will be reimbursed. The monitoring committee was appointed to monitor the working of Chair/Corners in the light of recommendation and suggestion made by the committee, the committee will visit Chairs/Corner after four months to assess the working of each Chair/Corner separately. The monitoring committee consisting of Prof Dr. Ghulam Ali Allana Convener and its members are Mr. Abdul Hameed Akhund, Prof M. Saleem Memon, Mr. Nazar Mohammad Gaho, Prof Dr. Syed Ahmed Hussain Shah and Prof Dr. Ashfaque Ahmed Memon. The meeting was attended by Prof M. Saleem Memon, Mr. Nazar Mohammad Gaho, Prof Dr. Syed Ahmed Hussain Shash, Prof Dr. Adal Soomro, Prof Dr. Amir Ahmed Khuhro, Prof Ayaz Gul, Mr. Mushtaque Ahmed Nizamani and Prof Dr. Ashfaque Ahmed Memon.
