The Vice Chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur Mir’s, Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk, declared the university's students as "highly talented individuals who will lead the country in the future."
He made these remarks on Thursday while inaugurating a one-day documentary film-making workshop organized by the Department of Media and Communication Studies. The workshop was conducted by award-winning filmmaker Kainat Thebo.
Expressing his satisfaction, the Vice Chancellor stated, “I am very happy to see that people are owning the institutions of their homeland.” He addressed the faculty and students, noting, “There are some God-gifted people, and you are the lucky ones to lead this institutions.”
Dr. Khushk emphasized the importance of such initiatives, stating that the department's effort to "organize this success event is a fortune" that will significantly enhance the students' exposure and practical experience. He praised the attendees as "fertile minds" whose talent would be the driving force behind the university's and the nation's progress. He concluded his address with a hopeful message: "I hope you own this university and will contribute to it."
The VC also commended the Head of the Department of Media and Communication Studies, Prof. Dr. Mujeeb-Ur-Rehman Abro, for his focus on practical student training, which is crucial for career development.
In his address, Dr. Mujeeb-Ur-Rehman Abro reciprocated the appreciation, lauding Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khushk for his unwavering support. "He has taken the university to the height of success by promoting a culture of quality education and research. Besides, he is always supporting us in such endeavors," Dr. Abro said. He reinforced the VC's message, adding, "This practical work will undoubtedly help build your careers."
The guest speaker, Kainat Thebo, shared her journey with the participants. Hailing from Maharapur in Sindh and a graduate of the National College of Arts (NCA) in Lahore, she stated, "I am proud to be the first girl from my area to graduate from NCA." She expressed her commitment to Sindh, saying, "I am here in Sindh to contribute to its people." Thebo promised a session of knowledge sharing, telling the students, "Whatever I have learned, I will share with you today."
The workshop aimed to provide hands-on experience in documentary filmmaking, aligning with the department's goal of bridging the gap between academic theory and professional practice.
