The 90th Syndicate Meeting of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur was convened here at the university's Syndicate Hall.
The meeting was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Meritorious Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk, and attended by syndicate members, The meeting, held in the Syndicate Hall of the University, was attended by prominent personalities including Member Provincial Assembly Barrister Halar Wassan, former Federal Secretary Naheed Shah, Prof. Dr. Samreen Hussain, Vice Chancellor of Dawood University of Engineering and Technology representing the Sindh Higher Education Commission, Syed Naveed Shah from the Higher Education Commission Islamabad, Sohail Baloch, Additional Secretary Universities and Boards, Government of Sindh, eminent person Amjad Ali Jalalani, Advocate Manzoor Hussain Larik, and Madam Latifan Khatoon Dharejo.
From the University, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the Main Campus Prof. Dr. Wahid Bux Jatoi, Pro-Vice Chancellor Shahdadkot Campus Prof. Dr. Ameer Ahmed Khuhro, Dean Faculty of Physical Sciences Prof. Dr. Noor Ahmed Shaikh, along with senior faculty members and officers including Prof. Dr. Ikhtiar Ali Ghumro, Dr. Siraj Ahmed Soomro, Dr. Ahmed Ali Memon, Dr. Irfan Ali Memon, Dr. Imran Ali Soomro, Prof. Dr. Irum Rani, Director Finance Qazi Nizam Uddin, and Registrar Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Shaikh were in attendance.
In his opening remarks, Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk warmly welcomed the members.
He went on to say, "Every effort is being made to improve the educational environment and provide students and scholars with top-notch facilities."
The Vice-Chancellor went on to reaffirm his commitment to delivering a transformative educational experience for students.
He emphasized that this mission is powered by the university's dedicated faculty and modern facilities, all aimed at preparing students to excel in a rapidly changing world.
The meeting resulted in several key decisions.
The syndicate confirmed the minutes of the 89th meeting and gave its approval to the Annual Budget for the financial year 2025-26, which was presented by Director Finance Qazi Nizam Uddin.
Furthermore, the Annual Report2024-2025 was approv ed for presentation to the Senate.
Other approved agenda items included the installation of gas meters and electric connections at university buildings , revision of allowances for differently-abled employees, enhancement of pensionary benefits, and financial relief for University staff, and the formal approval of appointment criteria for the Directors of the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) and the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC).
The members of the Syndicate unanimously applauded the efforts of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Khushk and his team. They expressed satisfaction with the university's performance in academic and development activities, praising the leadership for promoting transparency and steering SALU toward becoming a premier institution of higher education.
