Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur witnessed significant developments as Vice Chancellor Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk conducted a full day visit to the Ghotki Campus.
The visit focused on advancing the university's strategic planning process through comprehensive discussions with key stakeholders.
During his visit, Dr. Khushk chaired the 2nd meeting of the strategic plan 2025-2030, under the Institutional Quality Circle (IQC), held at Ghotki Campus. This meeting was a follow-up to the first session held at Main campus on Jun 17, 2025, during which it was decided that each faculty would prepare, present and submit its respective strategic plan.
The hybrid session brought together Pro-Vice Chancellors, deans, and heads of departments from both Ghotki and main campuses. Pro-Vice Chancellor Ghotki Campus Professor Dr. Syed Maqsood Zia and Shahdadkot Campus PVC Professor Dr. Ameer Ali Khuhro attended in person, while several deans including Professor Dr. Noor Ahmed Shaikh (Physical Sciences) and Professor Dr. Naveed Ahmed Shaikh (Social Sciences) participated virtually.
Speaking on the occasion, VC Dr. Yousuf Khushk stressed the importance of seven key pillars to elevate SALU’s global standing through international collaborations, local community engagement, and improved financial resources.
"We must not just identify problems but provide solutions with clear deadlines," he emphasized, calling for structured semester-wise and year-wise action plans.
Dr. Khushk directed all academic departments to formulate detailed, time-bound strategic plans with measurable milestones. This structured approach ensures systematic progress and accountability in achieving SALU’s long-term vision.
Dr. Khushk highlighted ORIC’s focus on commercializing research outputs, securing funded projects, and organizing capacity-building workshops to nurture innovation among faculty and students.
Dr. Khushk commended the faculty’s dedication, particularly praising Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Maqsood Zia for maintaining a dynamic campus environment. He encouraged faculty members to take greater ownership of their students' academic and professional growth while actively contributing to the university’s institutional development.
The strategic plan, developed under a committee led by Professor Dr. Noor Ahmed Shaikh, outlines a comprehensive roadmap for Shah Abdul Latif University’s future growth and development.
This strategic blueprint reflects SALU’s dedication to becoming a leading institution that balances academic rigor with social responsibility, professor Dr Noor Ahmed Shaikh told.
Professor Dr. Irum Rani Focal person of QEC , who moderated the proceedings, emphasized the collective responsibility in achieving the plan's objectives. The university leadership expressed confidence that these strategic initiatives would significantly enhance SALU's academic excellence and institutional reputation in the coming years.
Dr. Syed Mohsin Amir Mukhtiar stated the plan is structured around three core components: vision, mission, and values, each designed to strengthen the university’s academic and societal impact,
The strategic plan includes several key initiatives aimed at enhancing Shah Abdul Latif University's academic and infrastructural development, he further added.
Department heads from Faculties of Social Sciences, Education, and Physical Sciences delivered focused 15-minute presentations, each followed by 5-minute discussions with consultant Dr. Mohsin.
The presentations rigorously addressed three core components: strategic alignment with university goals, data-supported SWOT analyses, and actionable implementation roadmaps.
From Ghotki Campus, Dr. Allah Bux Lakhan, Dr. Shahid Hussain Mahar, Mr. Faiz Ahmed Bhutto, Mr. Nasir Uddin Mahar, Mr. Ghulam Abbas Kalhoro, and Mr. Imran Mushtaq actively participated in the session.
From the Main Campus, Khairpur, Professor Dr. Javed Ahmed Mahar, Professor Dr. Samina Rajpar, Professor Dr. Hisam-Uddin Shaikh, Professor Dr. Farman Mangi, Professor Dr. Baqar Hussain Shah, Dr. Naila Abbasi, Dr. Siraj Ahmed Sommro, Dr. Firdos Bugti, Sarmad Rahat, Aijaz Shaikh, Aamir Waseem Pathan, Nazir Magnejo, Mujtaba Jatoi, and others also presented comprehensive five-year strategic plans for institutional development.
The session concluded with a strong commitment from all participants to translate the strategic vision into concrete actions.
