SALU Faculty Member Wins Silver Medal at International Symposium in Malaysia VC Congratulates Abdul Rasheed Soomro of Institute of English for International Achievement

Mr Abdul Rasheed Soomro, a faculty member at the Institute of English Language and Literature (IELL), Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, Sindh has brought pride to Pakistan by securing the Silver Medal at the International Research and Innovation Symposium Competition (RISE 2025), held at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM).
His poster, titled “Making EFL Reading Class Effective and Paperless: A Solution to Reduce Greenhouse Effect,” was presented by his supervisor, Associate Professor Dr. Sarala Thulasi Palpanadan, and received high praise from international academics for its innovation and environmental relevance. The research highlights the use of WhatsApp in teaching English to reduce paper usage and combat climate change.
Vice Chancellor Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk congratulated Mr. Soomro on this international recognition, applauding his efforts as a reflection of SALU’s growing global academic presence. He emphasized that such achievements are a result of the university’s vision for academic excellence and sustainable research under his dynamic leadership.
Mr. Soomro also thanked his supervisor AP. Dr. Sarala Thulasi and Dr. Ishfaq Abbasi for their valuable support.
