Academic Regulations

1. Attendance will be transferred to the next semester.

1. If a student having less then 75% attendance shall not be allowed to take the final term examination of the course

2. Semester freeze

2.1.1 A student may discontinue his/her studies by seeking semester freezed during the semester before the final term examination on medical grounds or circumstances beyond his/her control with the written permission of Chairperson/Principal /Director of the Institute/Center subject to the condition that semester fee shall not be transferred/refunded.

3. Promotion, Dropout and Re-admission

3.1 Promotion form First Semester to Second Semester.

3.1.1 A student with Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 and above in the first Semester shall be promoted to the second semester.

3.1.2 A student with 1.50 >GPA< 2.0 in the first semester may be promoted to the second semester on “Probation”.

3.1.3 A student with 1.50 >GPA< 2.0 not interested in probation status may be allowed to repeat the semester or opting on or two course (s) with lowest grade to obtain one or two course(s) with lowest grade to obtain required GPA by paying the prescribed fee per course.

3.1.4 A student with GPA less than 1.50 in the first semester shall be dropped form the first semester.

3.2 Promotion from the Second and Subsequent Semesters.

3.2.1 A student with Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 and above shall be promoted to the next semester.

3.2.2 A student with (CGPA) of 2.0 and above shall be promoted to the next semester on “Probation”.

3.2.3 A student with (CGPA) 1.50or more but less than 2.0, not interested to be awarded probation status may be allowed to repeat the semester or opting one or two course(s) with lowest grade to obtain required CGPA by paying the prescribed fee per course

3.2.4 A student with CGPA less than 1.50 shall be dropped from the semester.

3.3 Probation status shall not be allowed in more than two semesters for graduate programs and three semesters for undergraduate program.

3.4 A student who has availed two probations status as the case may be, and still unable to maintain 2.0 CGPA shall be dropped out from the program as well as from the Department/College /Institute/Center rolls.

3.5 A student who fails to pass any course in three attempts shall be dropped from the program as well as from the Department/College /Institute/Center rolls.

3.6 A student, who has not been required to repeat any course (s) obtain CGPA of less than 1.9 at the end of the last semester, may be allowed to repeat one or two courses in which he/she has obtained the lowest grades, in order to improve the CGPA so as to obtain the minimum of 2.00 failing which he/she shall be dropped out form the program as well as from the Department/College /Institute/Center rolls.

3.7 A student who has been declared to be dropped in 1st, 2nd or subsequent semester due to GPA/CGPA less than 1.5 may be readmitted to the firs or relevant semester with the following conditions:

3.7.1 The student has to pay prescribed re-admission fee in addition to regular semester fee under intimation to the treasurer and the Director Academics

3.7.2 Permission to re-admission shall be obtained from the Chairperson Principal/ Director.

4. Grade Improvement

4.1 A student may repeat the course (s) during the course of study to improve the grades, if course of study to improve the grades, id he/she secures 1.00>GP< 2.0 in a course (s) or obtains grade ‘F’ or grade ‘W’ in a course (s) in both the cases, student shall enroll the course (s) with a Permission of the Chairperson/ Principal /Director of the Department/College /Institute/Center in the semester in which the course (s) is being offered, by paying the prescribed enrollment fee. Such course (s) shall be marked under asterisk * (R) in the semester/ official transcript.

4.2 A student who has obtained the final /official transcript issued by the Controller of Examination shall not be allowed to improve his/ her grades.

4.3 In case of improvement, the better grades shall be reflected on the semester/official transcript. However, such students shall not be considered eligible for a position of scholarship in the relevant examination.

5. Grading System

On the recommendations of the Deans, Chairmen/Chairpersons of the Departments/Faculties duly recommended by Academic Council in its 8th meeting held on 196.2007 subsequently approved by the Syndicate in its 62nd meeting held on 18.12.2007 vide Resolution No.4 (viii), the following revised semester rules are adopted form the Academic year 2007 for the faculties of Natural Science, Social Sciences & Arts as under:

The other semester Rules shall be (i) every student should have two more chances along with third original chance to clear the papers if he/she fails and improves will have the same number of chances. However the student with Grade C in any subject can improve the paper (ii) The Grade Point average (G.P.A) of each student shall be determined as under:

Minimum G.P.A For Award Of Degree 

The minimum G.P.A. shall be 2.0 for award of degree to student provided he/she has passed all courses.

Further more from 1st semester of Academic session 2007 and onwards starting form BS Part-I the distribution of marks in each subject will be as under:

4. Class Attendance 10 marks
Total 100 marks

Note: There shall be 03 Sessional Tests and marks of 02 tests will be counted.
