Chemical & Biochemical Division

This section is working on the chemical and physical analysis of fruit, leaves and other parts of the date palm tree. Several experiments have been conducted for the Biochemical studies of the elite varieties of Pakistan. A comprehensive work is going on the determination of chemical constituents, various nutrients and energy value of elite local varieties and their comparison with world famous varieties of Date Palm.

The Research scholar is working in this section for M.Phil degree. During this year experiments were conducted to study the effect of fertilizer management on in vitro date palm plantlets produced by DPRI Tissue Culture laboratory. The experiments were arranged in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) having three replications and nine treatments with different concentration of fertilizer while the control plants were left untreated by just giving only water. The data was recorded accordingly for physical characteristics and mineral detection from leaves of the date palm plantlets using atomic absorption technique in collaborative work with Department of Chemistry (SALU).
