A meeting of the Conveners Committees for the upcoming 9th Convocation 2026 at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, was held in the Syndicate Hall of the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat. The meeting was chaired by Meritorious Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk, Vice Chancellor of the university.
The meeting reviewed arrangements for the prestigious academic event and examined a comprehensive roster of conveners assigned to various responsibilities.
Presiding over the meeting, the Vice Chancellor shared his experience from a successful visit to the European Union. He highlighted how universities in the EU are increasingly focusing on entrepreneurship: how ideas are created, supported through the provision of platforms, and then implemented. He noted that academic events such as the convocation serve as important platforms to showcase student achievement, innovation, and the university’s growing academic profile.
The Vice Chancellor encouraged professors to work on international projects, including those linked with the World Bank and other organizations. He noted that such collaborations can strengthen the university’s academic linkages and add value to its major events, including the convocation.
The committees cover a wide range of responsibilities, including reception; food for guests, students, and parents; publication; souvenir; information and photography; banners and cards; and beautification. Separate committees have also been formed for student registration (semester and annual), rehearsal, invitation, hall management, and hall decoration. Other key areas assigned to conveners include accommodation, compering/proceedings, medals and folders, security, transport, student counseling, and gowns for members and students. In addition, specialized Engineering Work committees for electrical and civil tasks have been constituted to ensure smooth logistics for the convocation.
The meeting was attended by Pro-Vice Chancellors Prof. Dr. Maqsood Zia and Prof. Dr. Wahid Bux Jatoi; deans Prof. Dr. Mushtaque Ali Jakhrani, Prof. Dr. Noor Ahmed Shaikh, and Abdul Rehman Bhatti; Registrar Muhammad Hassan Halepoto; DF Qazi Nizamuddin; Controller of Examinations Nazir Ahmed Phulpoto; the Inspector of Colleges; conveners of committees, committee members, and Heads of Departments (HODs). Professors Prof. Dr. Farman Mangi, Prof. Dr. Irum Rani, Prof. Dr. Tajnees Peerzada, Prof. Dr. Mujeeb ur Rehman Abro, Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Shah, and others were also present.
