The prize distribution ceremony of the All Pakistan Inter-University Women’s Badminton Championship 2025-26 was held today at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), marking the successful conclusion of the three-day national sports event.
The ceremony was graced by the Commissioner of Sukkur Division, Mr. Abid Saleem Qureshi, as the chief guest. In his address, he congratulated the winning teams and emphasized the event’s role in promoting diversity, harmony, and peace across the region.
“I appreciate the Leader ship of VC SALU and sports section, the teams, and their parents. We feel proud to host this national event,” he stated.
He further encouraged the players to continue their hard work and sportsmanship, saying that their dedication reflects the bright future of women’s sports in Pakistan.
Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk, Vice Chancellor SALU, also congratulated all participating teams and highlighted that the athletes’ performance reflects the tremendous potential of women in sports. He expressed gratitude to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Sindh Sports Department for their support, stating that the memories of this event will remain long cherished.
Dr. Khushk described the championship as a message of “struggle, passion, hard work, and discipline.”
Organized by the SALU Sports Section under the supervision of Director Sports Muhammad Murad Peerzada and Deputy Director Sports Mujtaba Jatoi, Mr Taj Muhammad Mahar the championship marks the first time in ten years that SALU has hosted a national-level women’s sports event of this scale. In his welcome address, Murad Peerzada shared that 32 teams from across Pakistan participated in the championship.
The ceremony proceedings were conducted by Professor Najam-ul-Hassan and Syed Shamaila Rubab.
The championship concluded with winners announced in two categories:
Single Games Category
• 1st Position: Amna — University of Faisalabad
• 2nd Position: Rishan-e-Ahsan — University of Lahore
• 3rd Position: Sapna Akbar — University of Faisalabad
Double Games Category
• 1st Position: Amna & Nibrass — University of Faisalabad
• 2nd Position: Rishan-e-Ahsan & Khadija Asim — Kinnaird Women University Lahore
• 3rd Position: Sapna Akbar & Laiba Mushtaque — Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of awards and trophies to the winning athletes, teams, and staff. University officials present included:
