SALU Computer Science Exhibition Spotlights Student Innovation and Commercial Potential

The Institute of Computer Science (ICS) at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur successfully hosted its annual Digital Logic Design Exhibition, transforming its new academic block into a vibrant hub of innovation. The event showcased a wide array of practical projects and prototypes developed by students from the Computer Science and Information Technology programs, demonstrating their applied understanding of core computing principles and problem-solving skills.
The exhibition was graced by the Chief Patron, Meritorious Professor Dr. Muhammad Yousuf Khushk, Vice Chancellor of SALU, Khairpur.
Prof. Dr. Khushk visited every stall, engaging with the young innovators and praising their efforts. He offered crucial guidance for the future, encouraging students to focus on the commercial potential of their work. "You have sufficient time to make more market-oriented projects which can be beneficial for society and Pakistan," Dr. Khushk stated, further emphasizing the importance of staying ahead in the global technological race by noting, "It is the time of AI and you have to compete with work in this field and prepare for that."
The event also served as a platform for bridging academia and industry. Representing The Changing Foundation, an organization dedicated to empowerment and equal opportunities, Mr. Abbas Raza expressed strong interest in several projects for potential commercialization. He confirmed that his organization is actively seeking projects beneficial for rehabilitation services and had identified at least one project that closely aligned with their goals for further review.
The event, attended by and Prof. Dr. Noor Ahmed Shaikh, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences and organized under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Samina Rajper, Director of the Institute of Computer Science, with Miss Mahamd Hadi serving as the event supervisor, also incorporated a Project Expo. This segment featured work from students in Digital Logic Design and Digital Image Processing courses, evaluated by a panel of esteemed experts including Prof. Dr. Asad Kehar and Mr. Ashique Ali Shaikh.
The culmination of the event was the announcement of the winning teams. In the CS Department final year category, the top prize went to Zeeshan Hyder, Ghulam Muhammad, and Wajid Hussain for their "Color Detector System for Color Blind Individuals." Other winning projects included an "Auto Fire Detector and Fire Extinguisher Robot Car" from the CS department and an "Automatic Car Parking Toll Gate System" by Fazal Hussain Lashari, Zamin Rajper, and Bilal Memon from the IT Department.
The occasion was also attended by distinguished faculty members including Professor Dr. Hidayatullah Shaikh, Dr. Mashooque Mahar, Muhammad Murad Peerzada, Mujtaba Jatoi, Waseem Kalhoro, Aijaz Mahar and and others, highlighting the university's collective commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within its community.
