The 91st Syndicate Meeting of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, was held at the Syndicate Hall under the chairmanship of Meritorious Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk, Vice Chancellor, to deliberate on key academic, administrative, and developmental matters.
The meeting was attended by respected members of the Syndicate representing both external bodies and the University, including Ms. Naheed Shah Durani, Mr. Sohail Baloch (Special Secretary, Ministry of Universities & Boards, Government of Sindh), Mr. Muneer Ahmed (Director NAHE and nominee of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan), Ms. Latifa Khatoon, and Ms. Allah Bachayee Bozdar.
In his opening address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the academic and research environment at SALU. “Every effort is being made to provide students and scholars with modern facilities and a quality learning atmosphere,” he said, highlighting the University’s mission to equip graduates with knowledge and values to meet global challenges.
With the confirmation of the minutes of 90th meeting the Syndicate discussed and endorsed several important initiatives, including the appointment of various Directors and Chairpersons for key academic units as under: Prof. Dr. Khalida Parveen Mahar Director Institute of Chemistry, Prof. Dr. Abdul Sami Shaikh Chairman Department of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Masihullah Jatoi Director Institute of Business Administration, Prof. Dr. Farman Ali Mangi Chairman Department of Physics & Electronics, Prof. Dr. Santosh Kumar Chairman Department of Sociology & Gender Studies, Dr. Allah Wassayo Soomro Chairman Department of Sindhi, Prof. Dr. Samina Rajper Director Institute of Computer Science, and Dr. Inayatullah Bhatti Chairman Department of Pakistan Studies.
The House also approved the implementation of the Postgraduate Admission Policy under the Disabled Quota, duly recommended by the Academic Council and ASRB in line with HEC guidelines. It further endorsed the adoption of the Intellectual Property Rights Policy (IPRP) of SALU and supported the inclusion of industry and corporate representatives in the Boards of Studies to strengthen academia-industry linkages and curriculum relevance .
The members From the University, Pro-Vice Chancellors — Prof. Dr. Wahid Bux Jatoi (Main Campus), Prof. Dr. Ameer Ahmed Khuhro (Shahdadkot Campus), and Prof. Dr. Syed Maqsood Zia (Ghotki Campus) — along with Mr. Abdul Rahman Bhatti (Dean, Faculty of Law), Prof. Dr. Noor Ahmed Shaikh, Prof. Dr. Ikhtiar Ali Ghumro, FP QEC Dr Irum Rani Dr. Siraj Ahmed Soomro, Dr. Ahmed Ali Memon, Dr. Irfan Ali Memon, Mr. Imran Ali Soomro, and Registrar Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Shaikh, also participated in the proceedings.
Members of the Syndicate unanimously appreciated the transparent leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk and expressed satisfaction over the University’s progress in teaching, research, and development. They lauded the administration’s vision and collective efforts to transform SALU into a premier seat of higher learning in the region.
