SALU Hosts Workshop on "HEC Pink Ribbon Youth awareness Program 2025" at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, in collaboration with LINAR Cancer Hospital Larkana today. It was a great opportunity for everyone to come together, collaborate and give awareness about early detection and prevention of breast cancer.
A significant breast cancer awareness workshop was held at the Benazir Chair, Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur Mir’s, marking a proactive step in the ongoing #PinkTober2025 campaign. The event, organized under the banner of PinkRibbon, was centered on the theme "Prevent, Detect, Protect, Breast cancer, Together we can defeat."
The inauguration session was graced by the Vice Chancellor of SALU, Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk, who commended the initiative. In his keynote address, he emphasized the profound impact of individuals in driving change.
In his presidential address, Vice Chancellor Meritorious Professor Dr. Muhammad Yousuf Khushk said that Pink Ribbon Day is a vital campaign for human welfare and awareness, reminding that breast cancer is a global challenge and early diagnosis can save most lives. He stressed that Islam regards protection of life as an act of worship and that real honor lies in ensuring women’s health, not in concealing illness.
Dr. Khushk described Shah Abdul Latif University as a beacon of knowledge and social responsibility, lauded the efforts of women faculty and students for spreading awareness, and urged every female student to share this message of breast cancer awareness with at least five other girls, encouraging each listener to do the same so that the chain of knowledge continues to grow. This inspiring initiative was warmly appreciated by all participants. He concluded by saying, “Life is a blessing of Allah, and awareness is the means of its protection.
The welcome address was delivered by Professor Dr. Tajnees Pirzada, the event's Focal Person. She acknowledged the leadership of Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khushk in making the event possible and highlighted the workshop's goal to empower individuals in the fight against the disease.
The proceedings of the event were adeptly conducted by Syed Shamaila Rizvi.
The workshop featured expert lectures, practical demonstration and success stories from prominent medical professionals from LINAR Cancer Hospital Larkana, including Dr. Erum Naz Memon Gynecologist & Head of Oncology & Gynecologist, Dr. Hafeezullah Soomro, Principal Medical Officer.
Other key contributors to the event included Dr. Jameel Ahmed (IT Coordinator), Dr. Zahida Sargani (Principal Staff Nurse), and Aalima Tahzeeb, a student of LINAR, who also delivered speech.
The event underscored the university's commitment to its moral, social, and cultural responsibility to educate its students and the wider community on critical health issues, reinforcing the message that collective action is key to defeating breast cancer.
Among others, Prof. Dr Iram Rani, Prof Dr Tasleem abro, Prof. Dr Khalida Mahar, Prof. Dr Samina Rajpar, Prof Dr Nadia Agha, Dr Paras Niaz, and a large number of students, teachers participated in the workshop.
