The Institute of Commerce and Management, Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, paid a special academic tribute to the Republic of Türkiye by hosting an online video lecture as part of the ongoing Turkish Republic Day Week celebrations.
The event, titled “Republic, Unshakable Brotherhood and the Founding Spirit of Women,” featured the distinguished Turkish scholar Prof. Dr. Fatma Zehra Savi from Kababuk University.
Held at the Adeeb ul Hassan Rizvi Hall, the program was presided over by Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk, Vice Chancellor, SALU, who served as Chief Guest.
In his remarks, Dr. Khushk emphasized that Pakistan and Türkiye share a relationship “rooted in history, not new.” He highlighted the two nations’ trade ambitions—from $1.3 billion to $5 billion—and called for enhanced academic cooperation to produce graduates capable of engaging in international diplomacy. Describing the Pakistan–Türkiye bond as spiritual as well as intellectual, he linked the wisdom of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai and Allama Iqbal to the teachings of Maulana Rumi, saying both nations “rose by morals, values, and virtue.”
The event was organized by Prof. Dr. Akhtiar Ali Ghumro, Director, Institute of Commerce and Management, and Prof. Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari, Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences.
Senior faculty members including Prof. Dr. Ameer Hussain Shar, Prof. Dr. Irum Rani, Prof. Dr. Riaz Mangi, Prof. Dr. Anil Kumar, Prof. Dr. Saifullah Shaikh, Prof. Dr. Zain Areejo, Dr. Zeenat Kanwal, and Dr. Salahuddin Abro attended, symbolizing a unified academic tribute to Pakistan–Türkiye friendship.
