The Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) was awash with the flags and spirit of brotherhood as it officially inaugurated a vibrant "Pak-Turk Friendship Week" from October 27 to 31, 2025. The week-long series of events, commemorating the Republic Day of Türkiye, is designed to showcase the profound historical, cultural, and intellectual bonds between the two nations.
The celebrations kicked off with great enthusiasm on the morning of October 28. A lively "Friendship Rally," led by the Vice Chancellor, Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk, saw a large gathering of students, faculty, and Turkish guests. The procession, brimming with national flags and cheers, moved from the Faculty of Management Sciences to the Student Societies Center and the Central Library.
At the library, VC Dr. Khushk formally inaugurated the week by cutting the ribbon for a special photography exhibition. The centerpiece was a majestic display dedicated to the Hagia Sophia (Ayasofya), symbolizing the shared cultural and spiritual heritage of Pakistan and Türkiye. The exhibition of pics Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque, in colloboration with Yunus Emre Institute, curated by by Elan Ali Tipu, also featured a captivating collection of photographs depicting Turkish culture, heritage, and historical mosques, offering visitors a visual journey into the heart of Turkish identity.
In an address, Vice Chancellor Dr. Khushk framed the relationship said " From the blue waters of the Bosphorus to the banks of the Indus River, our hearts beat with the same rhythm.
The bond between Pakistan and Türkiye is not merely diplomatic — it is a connection of souls, woven with threads of love, sacrifice, faith, and culture.
The event was graced by a distinguished Turkish delegation, including Mr. Mehmed Emin, Assistant Director of Pak-Turk Maarif Schools and Colleges; Mr. Bin Yamin, Principal; Ms. Lareb, Faculty Member; and Mr. Ashir Khemtio, Operations Manager.
The successful rally and exhibition were organized by volunteer students of SALU under the guidance of the Focal Person for Students Affairs, Dr. Nazar Hussain Phulpoto and Dr Ali Raza Lashari. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and patriotism, reflecting the strong bond between the two brotherly nations and setting the stage for a week of deep intellectual and cultural exchange.
