SALU's 79th ASRB Meeting Approves Degrees for 66 Scholars, Stresses Societal Impact of Research

The 79th meeting of the Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB) at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) concluded with significant decisions, including the recommendation for awarding degrees to 66 postgraduate scholars and a strong emphasis on linking academic research to practical, societal benefits.
The meeting, held at the university's Syndicate Hall, was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk.
A key outcome of the proceedings was the academic endorsement of 14 PhD candidates and 52 MS/M.Phil students for the award of their degrees. Furthermore, the board approved a series of new research proposals from MS, MPhil, and PhD scholars across various faculties.
Addressing the board, Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khushk underscored the necessity of ensuring research conducted at the university provides tangible solutions to community problems.
"We need to disseminate our research publications to the public and policymakers, as this could attract industry interest and investors, benefiting both society and the economy," Dr. Khushk stated.
He also announced plans to implement a uniform policy for postgraduate studies and an automated system to streamline the registration and progress tracking of MPhil and PhD scholars. "An auto system would be made in which MPhil or PhD scholars should be registered and also updated about progress," he said, adding that deans, supervisors, and the scholars themselves would be notified automatically about updates.
The proceedings of meeting conducted by Dr. Muneer Ahmed Kazi, Focal Person for Postgraduate Studies, also saw the unanimous confirmation of the minutes from the 78th ASRB meeting.
The members present at the meeting expressed their appreciation for Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khushk's leadership, crediting him for elevating the university to new heights by improving the quality of education and cultivating a robust research culture.
Meeting was attended by members including Professor Dr Wahid Bux Jatoi, Professor Dr Ameer Ali khuhro,, Professor Dr Mushtaque Ali Jakhrani, Professor Dr Ghulam Mustafa Mashori, Professor Dr Minhoon Khan Laghari, Professor Dr Noor Ahmed Shaikh, Professor Dr Naveed Ahmed Shaikh, Professor Dr Akhtiar Ahmed Gumro, Professor Dr Irum Rani, Professor Dr Khalida Mahar, Professor Dr Masiuallah Jatoi, Dr Muneer Ahmed Qazi, Dr Raffaqat Arain, Controller Of examination Nazir Mangnejo and others.
