On the directives of the Vice Chancellor, Meritorious Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk, the Anti-Narcotics Societies, in collaboration with the Insan Dost Organization (IDSO) and supported by PMYDC and ARI, organized a Student Awareness & Smoking Cessation Session at the Students Societies Centre.
Coordinator Students Societies Center Said that The session was conducted under the theme “Quit Smoking, Live Better – Making Pakistan Smoke-Free” with the objective of raising awareness among students regarding the harmful effects of tobacco use and promoting healthier, addiction-free lifestyles through evidence-based tobacco control education.
Speakers highlighted the serious health consequences of smoking and stressed the importance of prevention, awareness, and early cessation. They also emphasized the vital role of youth as agents of positive social change in building a healthy and responsible society.
The interactive session witnessed active participation from students, who engaged with experts, shared their views, and discussed practical strategies for quitting tobacco and supporting peers in smoking cessation efforts.
Representatives of the Insan Dost Organization reaffirmed their commitment to public health promotion and youth empowerment through awareness-based initiatives. Representatives of the university’s Anti-Narcotics Societies reiterated their support for programs aligned with national health priorities and anti-drug awareness campaigns.
The session concluded with a collective pledge by students to discourage tobacco use within educational institutions and spread awareness in their communities.
Among the distinguished participants were Ms. Shumilla Rubab Rizvi, Mr. Abdul Jabbar Islami (CEO, IDSO), and Mr. Muzamil Somro, President PMYDC Team.
