KHAIRPUR, April 28, 2026
The Institute of Computer Science (ICS) at Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur today hosted its much-anticipated "Projects Expo" under the theme "Innovate · Create · Impact." The event showcased a wide range of student-led innovations in artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, and digital marketing, reflecting the institute’s commitment to bridging academic learning with industry-relevant skills.
Vice Chancellor Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk inaugurated the expo. Speaking on the occasion, he appreciated the quality of projects on display. He suggested that any success stories or tangible benefits derived from these projects should be prominently displayed to inspire others.
Commenting on a project titled "Micro Business Profit Predictor for Small Traders," the Vice Chancellor recommended that students connect directly with local traders, offer the service free for the first time, and let demand grow through proven results. He also spoke on another project focused on "Structural and Environmental Risk Assessment for Local Heritage and Trees," advising that it first be implemented in university buildings before expanding to other structures and eventually being commercialized.
Dr. Khushk also appreciated several other student projects, including an AI sign language recognition program, an AI-powered fraud detection system for banking, an AI-based skin disease detection system, a blockchain solution for secure data protection, and a secure cloud migration framework. He urged students to link their projects directly with relevant stakeholders and industry partners.
Dean Professor Dr. Noor Ahmed Shaikh accompanied Vice Chancellor and visited the project booths and, in his address, emphasized the importance of project-based learning. He urged students to file for intellectual property rights on commercially viable innovations.
Professor Dr. Samina Rajpar, Director of the Computer Science Institute (CSI), lauded the students for their creativity and technical depth. She noted that the expo demonstrated how academic training could translate into solutions for local problems, from banking fraud in Hyderabad to heritage decay in Sukkur.
During the expo, a student shared that he had successfully sold about 30,000 products through a digital marketing platform he developed, underscoring the real-world impact of the institute’s training.
The Entrepreneurship Projects were overseen by the Director of ICS, Professor Dr. Samina Rajper, and the Coordinator of CS, Professor Dr. Riaz Ahmed Shaikh. This section aimed to encourage business-minded students to translate technical skills into viable startups. The Digital Marketing and SEO category was supervised by the Coordinator of IT, Dr. Asadullah Kehar, and Project Supervisor Mr. Ashique Ali Shaikh.
Other distinguished faculty members who judged projects and interacted with students included Professor Dr. Hidayatullah Shaikh, Professor Dr. Riaz Ahmed Shaikh, Dr. Hanif Tunio, Dr. Aijaz Ali Shar, and Others. Their collective expertise spanned cybersecurity, data science, software engineering, and environmental informatics, and they provided critical feedback to help students refine their prototypes.
The expo concluded with a strong call from university leadership to transform academic projects into sustainable, real-world impact.
