Grand Annual Dinner Revived After Four Years at SALU Khairpur by SALUTA; Shah Abdul Latif University Vice Chancellor Establishes Prestigious University-Wide Tradition of Honouring Outstanding Teachers, Researchers, and Project Award Winners

After a hiatus of four years, the Shah Abdul Latif University Teachers Association (SALUTA) revived its long-awaited Annual Dinner, Award Ceremony, and Musical Evening at the scenic Flag Lawn near the Vice Chancellor’s House on the main campus of Shah Abdul Latif University. The gathering brought together faculty members, university administrators, retired teachers, and their families in a vibrant atmosphere of reunion, recognition, and institutional solidarity.
The event marked not only the revival of a cherished university tradition but also the beginning of a new culture of academic recognition introduced under the leadership of Meritorious Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk, Vice Chancellor of the university. For the first time in the history of the university, formal awards were presented to outstanding faculty members in the categories of Best Teacher, Best Researcher, and Project Winners in recognition of excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and academic leadership.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk expressed his pleasure over the revival of the annual tradition after four years and appreciated SALUTA for organizing the grand event. He stated that universities progress through the collective efforts of teachers, researchers, and academic leadership working together with commitment and vision.
The Vice Chancellor emphasized that teachers are the backbone of every university and acknowledged the vital role played by the families of faculty members in supporting the academic mission of higher education institutions. He remarked that the university’s graduates were serving across the country in different sectors and carrying forward the intellectual legacy of the institution.
Highlighting the importance of global academic engagement, Dr. Khushk encouraged faculty members to actively participate in international research collaborations, funded projects, and global academic initiatives. He stated that the university must continue building its international academic image through quality research, innovation, and scholarly excellence.
Among the distinguished guests were Prof. Dr. Nek Muhammad Shaikh and Prof. Dr. Naveed Ahmed Shaikh, both of whom shared their longstanding association and memories connected with SALU. They emphasized the importance of harmony between faculty and administration for institutional growth and praised the university’s academic legacy.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Ikhtiar Ali Ghumro termed the award ceremony a historic initiative and appreciated the Vice Chancellor for introducing institutional recognition for academic excellence. Prof. Dr. Hisam Uddin Shaikh also praised the administration’s efforts in steering the university through challenging times and reaffirmed the teaching community’s support for institutional progress.
The highlight of the evening was the prestigious award distribution ceremony. Awards were presented to distinguished faculty members for outstanding achievements in teaching and research at both faculty and university levels. Project Winners Awards were also conferred upon faculty members who demonstrated excellence in securing and leading academic and research initiatives.
The ceremony also included a heartfelt tribute to retired faculty members in recognition of their lifelong services to the university and contributions to higher education.
Following the formal proceedings, the gathering concluded with a musical evening and dinner reception, creating a memorable atmosphere of celebration and collegiality for the university community.
Among those present on the occasion were Prof. Dr. Noor Ahmed Shaikh, Prof Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Jakhrani , Prof. Dr. Liaquat Ali Chandio, faculty members, administrative officers, retired teachers, university employees, and their families.
The proceedings of the event were conducted by Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Khokhar and Dr. Tooba Shafaq, while the award announcements were made by Professor Dr. Agha Nadia.
