The Vice Chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk, has urged the academic community to proactively embrace the Artificial Intelligence (AI) revolution, emphasizing that university leadership must take a central role in guiding this technological transformation, particularly in light of emerging initiatives by the Higher Education Commission.
Dr. Khushk expressed these views while chairing a meeting at the Institute of Computer Science. Addressing faculty members, he highlighted SALU’s proud legacy as one of Sindh’s earliest universities and noted with satisfaction that its graduates are serving in key professional positions across various sectors nationwide.
The Vice Chancellor encouraged faculty to move forward with dedication and innovation, assuring them of his full support.
“If there are any challenges, bring them forward—we must move ahead collectively with these new initiatives,” he said. He stressed the importance of active participation by students, teachers, and coordinators, calling for strong institutional linkages and efficient execution from the very beginning.
Dr. Khushk specifically tasked the Institute of Computer Science with taking a leading role in implementing automation and AI-driven academic systems. He also shared the positive development that the University’s Urdu Journal has been successfully relaunched and is now functioning effectively.
Speaking on the occasion, the Dean Faculty of Physical Sciences, Professor Noor Ahmed Shaikh, emphasized teamwork and institutional unity. He assured that a clear implementation mechanism would be finalized very soon, with practical outcomes to be led by the Institute of Computer Science & IT. He reaffirmed full patronage from his faculty and expressed confidence that collective efforts would ensure successful execution of the AI and automation initiatives.
The Director, Institute of Computer Science, Prof. Dr. Samina Rajpar, briefed the meeting on the automation module and announced that implementation will formally begin from the Computer Science department. With the Dean’s support and full cooperation of faculty members, she stated that interns will also be engaged within the next two weeks to assist the process, ensuring SALU’s academic model steadily moves toward full automation. Faculty members warmly welcomed the initiative and expressed enthusiasm and confidence in completing assigned tasks within stipulated timelines.
The meeting concluded on an optimistic note, with all participants reaffirming their commitment to making SALU a technologically advanced and academically progressive institution.
