SALU Observes Kashmir Solidarity Day with University-Wide Rally and Address by Vice Chancellor

The Department of Political Science at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), in collaboration with the Department of Education, organized a significant rally on Wednesday to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day. The rally commenced from the New Academic Block and culminated at the Faculty of Teacher Education, drawing participation from heads of departments, faculty members, and a large number of students.
The Worthy Vice Chancellor, Meritorious Professor Dr.Yousuf Khushk, led the university’s participation. Addressing the gathered participants, the Vice Chancellor expressed the university's intellectual and moral support for the people of Kashmir. He stated, "I am happy to see all us sit together for the cause of Kashmir and stand for them."
In his address, Vice Chancellor Dr. Khushk highlighted the ongoing situation in Kashmir, noting that a "neighbouring country is doing hurtful things against Kashmiri people." He emphasized the right to self-determination for Kashmiris, as supported by United Nations resolutions. "We want the implementation of UN resolutions across the world," he asserted, adding that Pakistan would not compromise on its values and legal stance regarding Kashmir.
Dr. Khushk outlined the strategic and humanitarian importance of the region, describing Kashmir as a critical area situated between two nuclear powers. He linked the freedom of Kashmir to the welfare and prosperity of Pakistan, stating, "Peace is mandatory for the region and is linked to the resolution of Kashmir." He shared the sufferings of the Kashmiri people and expressed hope that they would soon attain their right to self-determination, urging everyone to raise their voices on international forums, including social media.
The rally also featured speeches from students. Farhana (BS II, Political Science), Rehan (BS IV, Political Science), and Rimsha (BS II, Education) spoke passionately about the plight of the Kashmiri people and the imperative for their self-determination.
Faculty members also addressed the gathering. Dr. Shahida Amir Chandio, In-Charge of the Political Science Department, and Professor Dr. Liaquat Ali Chandio spoke on the occasion, with the latter emphasizing the need to raise the Kashmir issue on all international platforms.
The event was attended by senior university officials including Deans Professor Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari and Professor Dr. Liaquat Ali Chandio, alongside professors Dr. Masihullah Jatoi, Dr. Irum Rani, Dr. Hisam-Uddin Shaikh, Professor Sarfraz Korejo, Dr. Inayatullah Bhatti, Dr. Ali Raza Lashari, Dr Firdous Bhugti, Dr Sahib Oad and others.
The proceedings were conducted by Dr. Akhlaq Larik. The event concluded with a collective expression of solidarity and a minute of silence observed for the Kashmiri people, in line with the directives of the Sindh government.
