The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has constituted a National Strategic Task Force on Doctoral Education Reform under the convenership of renowned academician Dr. Sohail H. Naqvi, Member of the Commission. The Task Force includes prominent higher education leaders, including Dr. S. M. Tariq Rafi, Chairman Sindh Higher Education Commission, and Dr. Iqrar Ahmed Khan, Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission.

According to the official HEC notification issued on January 26, 2026, Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk, Vice Chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, has been nominated as a Member of this national task force.

The Task Force comprises leading academicians, vice chancellors, and experts, and will review doctoral education systems, research quality, supervision standards, funding mechanisms, and international alignment. The nomination of Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk reflects his recognized role in higher education leadership and academic governance at the national level. The forum will recommend reforms to enhance the quality, relevance, and global credibility of doctoral education in Pakistan.
