SALU Students Week continues with enthusiasm even on 2nd day : 18-2-2025
The second day of Students Week at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur Mirs witnessed the inauguration of several key events, including the Photography Exhibition 2025, Software Expo 2025, and Entrepreneurship Mela 2025 Panels discussions and Seminars.
The inauguration were ceremonies performed Vice Chancellor Meritorious Professor Dr Yousuf Khushk.

During the Photography Exibition at Media Studies Departeny In his address, Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khushk commended the organization of these vibrant events, emphasizing the impact of the photography exhibition in raising awareness about societal, environmental, and ecological issues. He pointed out how photographs, such as one of a poor individual sitting in a collapsed house, effectively communicate the suffering of marginalized communities. Similarly, photos depicting villages lacking basic infrastructure, like roads, shed light on the urgent need for policy intervention.
Dr. Khushk further expressed pride in the talent of SALU students, stating that while the university's students have the same potential as their international peers, they require greater support and recognition. He mentioned that such events provide a platform for students to showcase their abilities and explore global opportunities.
The Software Expo at the Institute of Computer Science, organized by Director Prof. Dr. Jawaid Maher and his faculty, featured students’ innovative projects, demonstrating their technological capabilities.

This unique expo provided students with a valuable opportunity to showcase their skills, engage with industry professionals, and explore emerging trends in technology.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khushk praised the initiative and congratulated the Dean and specially Director institute Dr. Jawaid Maher , and his team for their outstanding efforts in fostering a culture of innovation and practical learning.
Entrepreneurship Mela – Fostering Future Business Leaders
The Entrepreneurship Mela provided a dynamic platform for networking, idea exchange, and industry engagement, bringing together students from multiple universities. Organized under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Minhoo Khan Laghari, Director of the Institute of Business Administration, and his dedicated team, the event successfully attracted industry leaders, corporate professionals, civil society representatives, researchers, faculty members, and students from various institutions.
A total of 35 stalls were set up, with participation from five universities, including Chandika University, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, and Aror University, as well as organizations such as Suzuki and Vision for Education.
Dr. Khushk commended Dr. Laghari and his team for their efforts in creating an environment that encourages innovation and entrepreneurship, emphasizing the need for students to transition from job seekers to job creators. Their hard work and dedication played a pivotal role in making the event a resounding success
In addition, the Entrepreneurship Mela brought together students from various universities, creating a unique opportunity for networking and idea exchange.
Dr. Khushk emphasized the importance of skill enhancement, with a vision to empower students to become entrepreneurs in the future.
Former Registrar Prof. Dr. Asad Raza Abidi congratulated Dr. Khushk for organizing such an event, highlighting its potential to open new avenues for students.
PVC Professor Dr. Wahid Bux Jatoi also praised the initiative, recognizing it as a step toward global competitiveness for students.
Professor Dr. Mujeeb-Ur-Rehman Abro expressed his admiration for the students' hard work in creating impactful photo themes that shed light on local heritage and societal issues.

At the Department of Economics, a seminar on “Islamic Banking & Financial Inclusion” was organized, featuring an insightful lecture by Mr. Samiullah Siddiqui (Regional General Manager, Samba Bank). He discussed the role of Islamic banking in financial inclusion and economic stability, providing students with valuable industry insights.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khushk appreciated the efforts of the Dean and, in particular, HoD Mr. Sarmad Rahat and his team for creating an opportunity for students to interact with industry leaders and gain real-world market exposure.
Panel Discussion on “Human History and Indus Civilization”
The Department of Pakistan Studies, under the leadership of Dr. Siraj Soomro, hosted a panel discussion on “Human History and Indus Civilization”. The session featured renowned scholars, including:Dr. Farhat Haq (Ex-Director, American Institute of Pakistan Studies)Dr. Yousuf Khushk (discussed linguistic and literary aspects)
Prof. Dr. Tasneem Pul & Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Shar answered the questions related to Archaeological auspects, and Prof. Dr. Naveed Shaikh shed light on the economic and trade traditions , moderator was Dr Inayet Bhatti .
The discussion explored the historical, linguistic, and economic significance of the Indus Civilization, providing deep insights into Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage.
Screening of “Unsung Heroes - Sanitary Workers of Islamabad”
At Peace Corner, Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khushk inaugurated the screening of the documentary “Unsung Heroes - Sanitary Workers of Islamabad”, jointly organized by FES Pakistan and BSWA.
Mr Khadim Hussain Mirani, The Executive Director of BSWA highlighted the aims and objectives of the documentary, which was highly appreciated by Dr. Khushk and other participants. The documentary shed light on the challenges and contributions of sanitary workers, bringing attention to an often-overlooked segment of society.
Political Science Students’ Dedication Shines Despite Space Constraints
All student halls were occupied, leaving the Department of Political Science without a venue for their event. Undeterred, the students organized their session in the courtyard of the building, showcasing their commitment and passion for learning.
Recognizing their enthusiasm, Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khushk personally visited the courtyard, sat with the students and faculty, and appreciated their dedication and resilience. His presence motivated the students, reinforcing the university’s support for their academic and extracurricular initiatives.
