Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) organized a crucial meeting of its Institutional Quality Circle (IQC) in the Syndicate Hall today. The body, tasked with overseeing academic and administrative quality, convened to finalize the university’s performance documentation for submission to the Sindh Higher Education Commission (SHEC).
Presiding over the meeting, Vice Chancellor Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk reviewed detailed presentations and reports from various departments. He emphasized the importance of accurate and comprehensive data submission as part of the university’s quality assurance process.
A major focus of the meeting was the announcement and planning of an upcoming ‘Students Week,’ scheduled to begin on February 9. Dr. Khushk directed all departments to actively engage every student in a five-day series of events. He instructed departments to display their academic programs, strengthen linkages with industry and professional institutes, and ensure the presence of external experts.
“We have to give exposure to students,” stated the Vice Chancellor, outlining a broad plan. He called for a diverse range of activities including book fairs, flower shows, sports events, and guest speaker sessions, leveraging connections with alumni for greater participation. Different departments will also host their own specific events.
In line with recent directives from the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr. Khushk announced that ‘Chinese Day’ will be a highlight of the Students Week. This commemorates the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. He directed every department to organize seminars on Pak-China friendship, cultural and music events, and other programs focusing on the bilateral relationship, as part of a nationwide year-long celebration.
The meeting saw wide participation from the university’s senior leadership. Attendees included Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Wahid Bux Jatoi, Deans: Professor Dr Noor Ahmed Shaikh, Professor Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari, Professor Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Mashori, Professor Dr. Mushtaque Ali Jakhrani, Heads of Departments, Sectional Heads, and senior administrative officers from the main Khairpur campus, as well as from the Ghotki and Shahdadkot campuses. Directors of Finance, Controller of Examinations, and heads of the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), ORIC, and Postgraduate Studies were also present.
Participants arrived with duly filled Key Performance Indicator (KPI) proformas and delivered briefings based on their departmental performance metrics, underscoring the meeting’s role in the university’s strategic quality review.
