Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur organized a significant seminar titled “The Role of Youth in Strengthening National Patriotism” today at the Main Auditorium Hall of the Students Societies Center (SSC).
The event, aimed at highlighting the crucial part young people play in fostering national unity and dedication, drew a large gathering of faculty, students, and members of the public.
The chief guest and keynote speaker , Sukkur Commissioner Abid Saleem Qureshi, underscored the direct link between the youth and the nation’s trajectory. “Youth is Pakistan, and if you are on the right direction, Pakistan is on the right direction,” he stated. Sharing experiences from living abroad, he highlighted how distance deepens love for the homeland.
He advised the youth to be responsible digital citizens, verify information on social media before sharing it, and contribute to society through civic welfare. Stressing the value of peace and stability, he called for respect and acceptance of all beliefs and sects to strengthen social harmony.
The seminar was presided over by the university’s Vice Chancellor, Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk.
In his address, Dr. Khushk reflected on the sacrifices of the nation’s founders and the dream that created Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of understanding the national anthem and flag, stating they convey profound messages.
“No subject is important but the person standing beyond it,” he remarked, urging continuity in patriotic values. He declared the youth as the future leaders and the “engine of the nation,” calling on them to be role models for the university, community, province, and country, commit to double efforts for national development, and celebrate Pakistan’s diversity, including its 77 languages.
Earlier, a welcome address was delivered by Dr. Inayatullah Bhatti, who linked discipline with societal development. Dr. Muhammad Ramzan Kolachi spoke on utilizing inherent talent for national welfare, emphasizing entrepreneurship beyond traditional employment. Senior columnist Naseer Murad defined patriotism as love for the country, described the youth as a national asset, and encouraged the use of digital technology for service.
The proceedings, conducted by Shamaila Rubab, concluded with a vote of thanks from Professor Sarfraz Korejo, who called for a collective commitment to the country’s development.
Prominent university faculty members and official in attendance included Deans: Professor Dr Noor Ahmed Shaikh, Professor Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari, Professor Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Mashori, Professor Dr. Mushtaque Ali Jakhrani, others: Professor Dr. Liaquat Ali Chandio, Professor Dr. Farman Mangi, Professor Dr. Deedar Ali Jamro, along with Dr. Shahida Ameer Chandio, Dr Sahib Oad, Waseem Kalhoro, and Aijaz Mahar.
The seminar served as a timely and inspiring platform for dialogue on civic responsibility and national unity.
