Freshers’ Day held at Student Society Center SALU Khairpur

The Students Societies Center of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, Organized a Freshers’ Day event on Wednesday to welcome newly admitted students and introduce them to extracurricular opportunities available on campus.
Vice Chancellor Meritorious Professor Dr Yousuf Khushk addressed the participants online and emphasised the role of student societies in nurturing talent, leadership, and personal growth. He encouraged freshers to actively participate in co-curricular activities alongside their academic pursuits.
He appreciated the role of Pakistan’s first-ever Students Societies Center operating on a university campus and noted that SALU currently hosts 45 active student societies working for youth development and social betterment. He said these societies play a vital role in character building, personality development, and promoting positive social values among students.
The event was conducted by Dr Ali Raza Lashari, Assistant Professor and Coordinator, Students Societies Center, who highlighted the objectives, functions, and achievements of various student societies. He underscored the importance of student engagement and leadership development in university life.
Former office-bearers of different student societies also shared their experiences with the freshers. Speakers included Asad Abbas, former President of the Students Societies Center; Syed Raza Abbas, former President of the Qir’at & Naat Society and Climate Change Society; Haseen Zehra, former President of the Youth Empowerment Society; Mr. Ashraf Baloch and Sirtaj Dahar, former President of the Painting Society.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Maim Syeda Shumaila Rubab Rizvi, who appreciated the organising team and encouraged students to become active members of university societies.
