The five-day Faculty Development Training Program under the auspices of the Sindh Higher Education Commission (SHEC) concluded with a day marked by insightful learning and a memorable ceremony at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur.
The ceremony was graced by the Vice Chancellor, Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk, who presided over the event.
In his concluding remarks, Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khushk lauded the master trainers and the entire coordination team for their commitment and professionalism. He emphasized that such programs are vital for nurturing a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and integrity in higher education.
He framed the training as an investment in the university's future, stating, “You have learned many new things, this is a debt you must pay back by training others.” Emphasizing the transformative role of educators, he said, “The training of a teacher does not transform just one student, it transforms an entire society.” He urged faculty to become creators of knowledge and role models, connecting students to a robust research culture within the classroom.
VC Dr. Khushk outlined an expanded responsibility for the faculty: to equip students with a global mindset, foster a research-oriented classroom culture, uphold professional ethics, and serve as beacons of knowledge recognized worldwide.
The final day commenced with a thought-provoking session on Work Ethics and Professionalism, conducted by Dr. Zain Arijo. The session emphasized integrity, accountability, and professional conduct as cornerstones of academic excellence. Participants engaged in discussions on ethical dilemmas in teaching and strategies to foster a culture of respect and responsibility within higher education institutions.
Following the session, a captivating concluding ceremony was held at the Auditorium of the Students Society Center.
Dr. Mushtaq Jakhrani, Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences, honored the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Certificates were distributed by the Vice Chancellor to the training participants, while master trainers received appreciation certificates for their dedicated contributions.
Five participants Madam Paras Niaz Khaskheli, Dr. Ramzan Kolachi, Dr. Mashooque Mahar, Dr. Tooba Shafqat, and Madam Saira Chandio shared their reflections on the training, highlighting its impact on their teaching practices and professional growth.
Dr. Abdullah Maitlo presented the outcomes of the training, underscoring the enhanced pedagogical skills, improved communication strategies, and strengthened research competencies among faculty members. Prof. Dr. Ikhtiar Ghumro delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of organizers, trainers, and participants.
The ceremony was skillfully moderated by Ibrahim Khokhar, who enriched the proceedings with captivating quotes from world literature and verses of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, adding cultural depth and inspiration to the event.
It was resolved that such faculty development trainings will continue in the future, with expanded participation including Teaching Assistants and faculty members of affiliated colleges. This initiative aims to further strengthen teaching skills, promote capacity building, and foster academic excellence across Sindh.
This Faculty Development Training Program, organized under the Sindh HEC Faculty Development initiative, reflects the university’s dedication to empowering educators with modern teaching methodologies, ethical practices, and research skills.
