At Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, was abuzz with activity as it hosted the grand opening of the All Pakistan Inter-University Women’s Badminton Championship 2025-26 today.
The ceremony was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mr. Muhammad Ismail Rahoo, Minister for Universities & Boards, Government of Sindh. Muhammad Abbas Baloch Secretary Universities and Boards, and Moenuldin Siddiqi Secretary Sindh Higher education commission Participated as guest of Honour. The event, held under the patronage of SALU's Vice Chancellor, Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk, marks a significant national gathering of women athletes after a long interval.
Minister Muhammad Ismail Rahoo, in his inaugural speech, emphasized the critical importance of promoting women's sports in the country.
He said:
“It is a privilege to be here. Education and sports together build strong nations. Women athletes bring confidence, discipline, and strength—qualities essential for a developing Pakistan.”
He praised the event for showcasing Pakistan’s cultural diversity and appreciated VC SALU Dr. Yousuf Khushk and his team for promoting sports at the national level.
Education nurtures national development, while sports build teamwork and resilience. Disciplined youth are the architects of Pakistan’s future.
Praising the current university administration, Mr. Muhammad Abbas Baloch, Secretary of Universities & Boards for the Government of Sindh said, "After the arrival of the Vice Chancellor Meritorious Professor Dr Yousuf Khushk, many positive activities are happening here. SALU is the third-largest university in Sindh, and it is our responsibility to impart quality education. Its matter of pleasure that

Mr. Moinuddin Siddiqui appreciated the university’s academic advancement and research culture.
He remarked:
“Sports teach young people how to face challenges with courage. Alongside education, physical activity builds a healthy and productive life.”
He inspired students by saying:
“A dream is not what we see in sleep; a real dream is what keeps us awake and motivated. Start today—don’t wait for tomorrow.
In his welcome address, VC Dr. Yousuf Khushk formally welcomed participants, officials, and guests from across the country. He highlighted that this is the first time in over a decade that SALU has hosted this national women's event, with more than 27 teams from across Pakistan, participating in the three-day championship.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khushk also took the opportunity to highlight the achievements of his tenure and the growth of SALU, which now includes campuses in Gotki and Shahdatkot.
A vibrant cultural exhibition featuring students from provinces including Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan added color to the event, symbolizing unity in diversity.
Director Sports, Muhammad Murad Peerzada conducted the proceedings of the event.

The opening ceremony concluded at the colourful musical and sports song performances by the students, an encouraging message from the organizers, who expressed great optimism for the talent and competitive spirit expected to be on display throughout the tournament. The championship is supported by the university's sports department and the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
