Spain’s Universitat Pompeu Fabra Vice-Rector Helena Ramalhinho and Pakistan's Shah Abdul Latif University Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khushk Hold First Meeting to Explore New Horizons of Academic Collaboration Between Their Universities
Barcelona, October 19, 2026:
Meritorious Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk, Vice Chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, Pakistan, held his first official meeting with Professor Helena Ramalhinho, Vice-Rector for Internationalisation at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), Barcelona, Spain, during his academic visit at the invitation of the host university.
The first meeting, held at UPF’s Ciutadella Campus, was also attended by Sara López, Director of the International Relations Office; Professor Marco Madella, ICREA Research Professor; and Sílvia Vilanova, International Staff Mobility Officer.
During this initial meeting, both academic leaders exchanged views on strengthening institutional linkages and exploring potential avenues of academic cooperation between the two universities. Various aspects of future collaboration were discussed, including faculty and student mobility, joint research initiatives, interdisciplinary academic programmes, knowledge sharing, and international academic exchanges.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Khushk emphasized the importance of establishing sustainable international academic partnerships to broaden educational opportunities, promote research and innovation, and provide greater international exposure to students, researchers, and faculty members of both institutions.
He highlighted that meaningful university partnerships can open new avenues for young scholars and contribute to addressing emerging academic, technological, and societal challenges through collaborative research and the exchange of knowledge.
Dr. Khushk also acknowledged the valuable role of Professor Marco Madella in facilitating academic connections between the two institutions and appreciated the cooperation and hospitality extended by the UPF administration.
The first meeting provided a constructive foundation for further academic engagements scheduled during the week with relevant directors, academic departments, and university officials to explore specific areas of mutual interest and possibilities for future institutional cooperation.
Following the meeting, Dr. Khushk with Prof Dr Sofia Yousuf visited UPF’s Ciutadella Campus to observe its academic environment and facilities. He was accompanied during the campus visit by faculty member Paras Niaz Khaskheli.
