Foreign-Qualified Faculty Unite to Advance Latif University’s International Profile Under the Leadership of Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khushk

In a significant step towards advancing the international profile of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, all foreign-qualified faculty members, together with the Deans of all faculties, gathered to formulate a collective roadmap for expanding global academic partnerships, strengthening research collaboration and creating greater opportunities for students and faculty.
The strategic meeting, chaired by Vice Chancellor Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk at the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat, marked the beginning of a faculty-led internationalisation initiative aimed at transforming the University’s global academic connections into sustainable institutional partnerships.
Welcoming the participants, the Vice Chancellor observed that SALU’s internationally qualified faculty represents one of the University’s greatest strengths. He noted that the knowledge, experience and professional networks developed through their education and research abroad should now be translated into tangible institutional achievements for the benefit of the University, its students and the wider academic community.
He emphasised that the University is committed to supporting every meaningful initiative and encouraged faculty members to take ownership of SALU’s international future by reconnecting with their former universities, supervisors, research groups and academic collaborators across the world.
The meeting identified four strategic priorities for immediate action. These include making full use of the Higher Education Commission’s Faculty Exchange Programme, developing collaborations for dual, joint and double degree programmes, revitalising Shah Abdul Latif University’s participation in the CPEC Consortium of Universities, and strengthening collaborative research while enhancing the quality and international visibility of the University’s research journals.
Foreign-qualified faculty members actively participated in the deliberations, sharing their international academic experiences, success stories and professional insights gained from universities around the world. Participants exchanged ideas on global best practices and explored practical ways to revive existing academic linkages and transform them into productive institutional collaborations.
The faculty members expressed their commitment to reactivating their international networks for faculty exchange, collaborative research projects, joint publications, academic mobility, international seminars and student opportunities. They agreed that these partnerships should directly contribute to improving academic quality, research productivity, international visibility and student learning at SALU.
Participants appreciated the Vice Chancellor’s initiative in bringing together the University’s globally trained scholars on a common platform and welcomed the confidence placed in them to play a leading role in the University’s internationalisation agenda. They assured the University administration that they would fully utilise their academic contacts and expertise to help restore and further strengthen SALU’s position among leading universities.
In his concluding remarks, Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khushk thanked the faculty members for their enthusiasm and commitment, reminding them that SALU is their own institution and that its future depends upon their collective leadership, ownership and vision. He assured them that the entire University administration, including the Pro-Vice Chancellors, Deans, HoDs and all relevant offices, would extend every possible institutional support to facilitate international collaborations and academic initiatives.
Faculty members were invited to present concrete proposals at the next meeting so that promising ideas could be transformed into practical programmes and measurable achievements. It was unanimously agreed that this strategic forum would meet every month to review progress, evaluate new initiatives and ensure continuous advancement of the University’s international engagement.
