KHAIRPUR, June 01, 2026:Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, convened a high-level meeting of all Deans and concerned administrative officers at the Syndicate Hall under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor, Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk, to review and accelerate important academic, statutory, examination, and administrative matters of the University.
The Vice Chancellor, in his address, emphasized timely preparation and implementation of academic and governance-related initiatives in line with modern higher education requirements and institutional priorities. During the meeting, various significant tasks were distributed among senior faculty members and administrative officers through specialized committees constituted for effective planning, implementation, and monitoring.
A major focus of the meeting remained the establishment of a comprehensive university-wide internship framework in accordance with Higher Education Commission (HEC) guidelines. An Internship Policy Committee was constituted under the convenership of Prof. Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari, Dean Faculty of Management Sciences, to formulate a uniform internship policy, establish a dedicated Students’ Internship Office, identify public and private sector placement opportunities, and develop mechanisms for supervision, evaluation, and institutional collaborations.
The Academic Council Agenda Committee was constituted under the convenership of Prof. Dr. Mushtaque Ahmed Jakhrani, Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences. The committee was assigned to collect and scrutinize agenda items, review curriculum and academic regulations, examine proposals regarding new academic programs, prepare working papers, ensure follow-up actions on previous Academic Council decisions, and ensure timely circulation of agenda documents.
For Syndicate matters, a committee under the convenership of Prof. Dr. Noor Ahmed Shaikh, Dean Faculty of Physical Sciences, was constituted to review implementation status of previous Syndicate decisions, monitor Annual Report and FPC matters, prepare draft statutes and regulations, and ensure timely circulation of agenda documents.
Similarly, the Senate Agenda Committee was constituted under the convenership of Prof. Dr. Wahid Bux Jatoi, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Main Campus). The committee was entrusted with responsibilities relating to follow-up actions on previous Senate decisions, preparation of draft statutes and regulations, finalization of Senate agenda items, and timely circulation of official documents.
The meeting also reviewed preparations for the forthcoming visit of the Charter Inspection & Evaluation Committee (CIEC). A dedicated committee under the convenership of Prof. Dr. Iram Rani Shaikh was tasked with preparing action plans, documentary evidence, presentations, and institutional briefings to ensure successful outcomes of the evaluation process.
Regarding Annual Examinations 2026, the meeting finalized arrangements for timely declaration of remaining results, examination scheduling, procurement of examination material, printing of question papers, and assignment of examination duties. A committee headed by Controller of Examinations Mr. Nazir Ahmed Phulpoto was entrusted with overseeing all related arrangements.
Extensive deliberations were also held on admissions for Academic Session 2026-27. A committee under the convenership of Prof. Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Mashori was constituted to supervise admission policy, online admissions, merit transparency, prospectus improvements, admission schedules, and student facilitation mechanisms in light of HEC Undergraduate Education Policy.
Additionally, a Postgraduate Admissions Committee headed by Dr. Munir Ahmed Qazi was formed to review postgraduate admission policies and recommend improvements, while Dr. Rafaquat Hussain Arain was assigned to prepare a comprehensive presentation regarding ORIC ranking gray areas and the proposed institutional action plan for improvement.
It was further decided that all conveners and Deans would present daily progress briefings before the Vice Chancellor up to June 5, 2026, to ensure timely completion and implementation of assigned responsibilities.
The meeting was attended by Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Maqsood Zia, Dean Professor Dr. Liaquat Ali Chandio, Dr Shahida Amir, Registrar Muhammad Hassan Halepoto, Dr. Rafaqat Arain, Dr. Munir Qazi, Munir Ahmed Rashidi, Aamir Pathan, Qazi Nizamuddin, Imran Soomro, Dr. Zulfiqar Shaikh, Dr. Sahib Oad, and others.
Participants commended the Vice Chancellor for steering the university toward greater success through quality education, academic reforms, institutional development, and the promotion of a robust research culture.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to and from the Chair, with the Vice Chancellor expressing confidence that the constituted committees would ensure timely implementation of reforms and contribute towards strengthening academic excellence, institutional governance, transparency, and student-focused development at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur.
