Khairpur SALU’s 80th ASRB Meeting Reinforces Research Excellence and Societal Impact.

The 80th meeting of the Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB) at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur concluded with significant decisions, including the recommendation for awarding degrees to 63 postgraduate scholars and a strong emphasis on linking academic research to practical, societal benefits.
The meeting, held at the university's Syndicate Hall, was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk.
A key outcome of the proceedings was the academic endorsement of 12 PhD candidates and 51 MS/M.Phil students for the award of their degrees. Furthermore, the board approved a series of new research proposals from MS, MPhil, and PhD scholars across various faculties.
Addressing the board, the Vice Chancellor underscored the importance of adhering to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) criteria, particularly in postgraduate studies. He stressed that research degrees should be aligned with winning research projects that offer tangible benefits to society and the country. Dr. Khushk directed the establishment of stringent mechanisms for the scrutiny and implementation of academic and research policies, emphasizing that the entire process must be executed strictly in accordance with the university's prescribed policy framework.
"We should develop more best mechanisms for scrutiny and implement the whole process as it is in policy," said Dr. Khushk. "Research degrees should be related to winning research projects, and it can be useful for society and the country. Impact can be possible with project-based research."
The Vice Chancellor further urged professors to actively secure research projects from various organizations, including chambers of commerce, the HEC, and other funding bodies, to foster a culture of impactful and applied research. He underscored the necessity of ensuring research conducted at the university provides tangible solutions to community problems.
The proceedings of the meeting were conducted by the Member Dr. Munir Ahmed Kazi, and Mr Islam gul Mahar Secretary for Postgraduate Studies.
The meeting was attended by prominent members: Professor Dr Ameer Ali Khuhro, Professor Dr Maqsood Zia, Professor Dr Ghulam Mustafa Mashori, Professor Dr Minhoon Khan Laghari, Professor Dr Mushtaque Ali Jakhrani, Professor Dr Liaqat Ali Chandio, Professor Dr Akhtiar Ali Ghumro
Professor Dr Irum Rani, Professor Dr Tasleem Abro, Professor Dr Sajjad Ali Raisi, Dr Muzfar Sirohi, and Dr Sahib Oad.
Administrative officials including Registrar Muhammad Hassan Halepoto, Controller of Examinations Saifuddin Pathan, Assistant Directors Zafar Ali along with others, attended the session.
The members present at the meeting expressed their appreciation for Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khushk's leadership, crediting him for elevating the university to new heights by improving the quality of education and cultivating a robust research culture.
