SALU Hosts Interfaith Harmony Seminar to Strengthen Peace and Pluralism
The 4th Day of StudentWeek 2026: Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur Mirs, hosted an Interfaith Harmony Seminar titled “Bridges of Belief: Promoting Peace in a Pluralistic Society” on Thursday at the Students Services Center (SSC). The event was jointly organized by the Institute of Islamic Studies (IIS) and the SSC as part of the university’s ongoing StudentWeek celebrations.
The seminar aimed to foster mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and constructive dialogue among followers of different religions and schools of thought. It brought together religious scholars, academicians, and civil society representatives on a single platform.
Prof. Dr. Sajjad Ali Raeesi, Director of the Institute of Islamic Studies, delivered the welcome address and underscored that no religion advocates discrimination, hatred, or conflict. “All divine religions fundamentally promote peace, compassion, and respect for humanity,” he said. Maulana Abdul Momin Memon, the Guest of Honor, added spiritual and scholarly depth to the proceedings.
Representatives from diverse faith communities also addressed the audience. Makhdoom Nadeem Hashmi spoke on behalf of Dargahs, highlighting the Sufi tradition of love and inclusivity. In celebration of Students’ Week, the Institute of Computer Science at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, organized a Pair Programming Competition on Thursday, drawing enthusiastic participation from students across multiple disciplines.

The Chairman of the department Dr. Allah Wasayo Soomro presented the gift of Sindhi Ajrak to the chief guest followed by a warm welcome extended to the distinguished guests.
Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Mashori, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages, presided over the academic gathering.
Addressing the audience, Dr. Sher Mehrani emphasized that technology has revolutionized the field of education in the modern era.
