The third day of Students' Week at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur Mirs saw active participation from students, highlighting their innovative and creative talents. Under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. M. Yousuf Khushk, a range of activities were held across various departments, including seminars, music and singing competitions, poster and model presentations, theatrical plays, debate programs, quiz competitions, and sports activities.
In addition to academic discussions, a free clinical screening camp and a campus-wide cleanliness drive were organized to promote health awareness and environmental sustainability. Students from diverse departments actively engaged in these activities, showcasing their creativity and enthusiasm.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Wahid Bux Jatoi visited multiple departments, including Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Chemistry, and Microbiology, to witness the student-led events. Dr. Jatoi praised Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk’s vision, stating that the events were a reflection of the university’s commitment to fostering student creativity, which will ultimately contribute to improving the institution's global ranking.
"The Vice Chancellor's vision to provide a platform for students to exhibit their talents is turning into reality," said Dr. Jatoi. "These activities will help students gain more opportunities and enhance their personal development, making them valuable contributors to society."
The ongoing events are a testament to Shah Abdul Latif University's commitment to nurturing student talent and promoting a well-rounded educational experience, he told.
Professor Dr. Mushtaque Ali Jakhrani also praised the student’s outstanding work, particularly in poster and model presentations. He credited the Vice Chancellor for making such events possible, adding that these activities not only highlight student talent but also promote a holistic academic experience.
A highlight of the day was the campus-wide cleanliness drive led by Dr. Ameer Hussain Shar, Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, and Dr. M.K. Laghari, Director of IBA. The initiative emphasized environmental responsibility, with both faculty members stressing the importance of a clean environment for academic productivity and health.
The health awareness campaign, spearheaded by the departments of Chemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacy and Biochemistry offered free health screenings and health services to the campus community. Professor Dr Khalida Mahar, Professors Dr. Mir Muhammad Ali Talpur, Dr. Abdul Sami Shaikh and Dr Abdul Majid Ansari underscored the importance of community engagement in promoting public health.
As part of the academic dialogue, Usman Sharif delivered a session on "Growth Mindset Through the Lens of Serah," encouraging students to embrace challenges and maintain a positive learning approach. Dr. Ali Raza Lashari expressed gratitude to the trainers and reaffirmed the university’s dedication to intellectual and professional growth.
The Faculty of Arts and Languages also showcased a collective program at the Benazir Chair, where students from the Sindhi and Urdu departments presented their performances, enriching the cultural diversity of the event. Prof. Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Mashori, Dean of the Faculty, applauded the students for their enthusiasm and creativity, and expressed pride in the success of the ongoing activities.
