A delegation of the Pakistan-Türkiye Friendship Forum (DOST Forum) met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye, Dr. Irfan Neziroglu, at the Turkish Embassy in Islamabad to discuss avenues of mutual cooperation and further strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Türkiye.
The delegation included Dr. Farooq Adil, President of the Dost Forum; Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk, Vice Chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University; Prof. Dr. Halil Toker, Country Director of the Yunus Emre Institute Pakistan; and Dr. Zahid Majeed, Secretary General of the Dost Forum.
During the meeting, both sides held detailed discussions on strengthening collaboration in the fields of education, joint research projects, scholarships for students, trade and business opportunities, cultural exchanges, tourism, and people-to-people contacts between the two brotherly countries.
Ambassador Dr. Irfan Neziroglu emphasized the need to further deepen the historic and exemplary relations between Pakistan and Türkiye in all spheres of life, including trade, defense, education, and culture. He said that both countries are working with dedication to enhance bilateral cooperation and that the Dost Forum could play a significant role in bringing the people of the two nations even closer.
The Turkish Ambassador stated that efforts are underway to further increase bilateral trade and economic cooperation. In this regard, he noted that the visa process has been made easier and faster so that Pakistani businessmen, industrialists, academics, researchers, and people associated with culture and education may benefit from improved opportunities for interaction and collaboration.
Dr. Irfan Neziroglu stressed that the friendship between Pakistan and Türkiye must be transferred to future generations through strong cultural engagement and educational cooperation. He proposed that Pakistan and Türkiye should jointly produce films based on shared historical themes, particularly the Khilafat Movement, which reflects the deep-rooted emotional and historical ties between the two nations.
Highlighting the importance of academic cooperation, the Ambassador said that universities, scholars, and researchers from both countries should jointly undertake collaborative research initiatives and establish stronger institutional linkages. He also emphasized the need for more frequent exchanges of delegations representing academia, culture, media, trade, and other sectors.
The Ambassador further informed the delegation that Pakistan and Türkiye would jointly celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal and the 500th anniversary of the establishment of the Mughal Empire in the subcontinent following the arrival of Babur.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk appreciated the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Türkiye and highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation among universities and cultural institutions. He emphasized that educational and cultural diplomacy can play a vital role in promoting peace, mutual understanding, and sustainable development.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed goodwill and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening Pakistan-Türkiye friendship and cooperation in diverse fields. As a gesture of respect and cultural harmony, Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk presented a traditional Sindhi Ajrak as a souvenir to Ambassador Dr. Irfan Neziroglu. The meeting concluded in a warm and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the enduring bonds of brotherhood and mutual respect between Pakistan and Türkiye.
Dr. Farooq Adil president of the DOST Forum also presented his travelogue related to Türkiye to Ambassador Dr. Irfan Neziroglu and appreciated the cultural and historical richness of Türkiye as well as the enduring friendship between the two nations.
