HEC Chairman Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar Visits Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur
Khairpur: Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad, visited various institutes and centers today at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur.
During his visit, Dr. Niaz visited the Date Palm Research Institute (DPRI), where he took keen interest in the institute’s ongoing work. He assured the university administration of maximum support to further strengthen the institute and make it more beneficial for the university, its students, and the wider community.
He also visited CBC , and the Student Society Centers and appreciated their functioning, particularly their role in engaging students in healthy extracurricular activities.
Expressing satisfaction over the university's overall performance, Chairman HEC lauded the leadership of the Vice Chancellor for steering the institution to new heights of success despite multiple challenges.
Elaborating on research project funding for universities, the HEC Chairman stated that he would also support universities in their development projects.
He reiterated that, despite ongoing challenges, the government is introducing multiple initiatives, including the laptop scheme, aimed at supporting skills development and creating earning opportunities for youth.
Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar assured that the HEC would continue to provide facilities to higher education institutions across the country, with a focus on equitable access and quality improvement.
Sulaiman Ahmed, Regional Director HEC Sindh, and Dr. Sohail Ahmed, Director HEC Sindh, also accompanied the Chairman HEC during the visit.
On the occasion, Vice Chancellor Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushkk appreciated the HEC Chairman’s visionary leadership, noting that it continues to guide universities toward innovation and excellence.
