US Archaeologists Collaborate with SALU to Preserve Indus Valley Heritage
A distinguished delegation of US archaeologists, including Marta Ameri (Colby College), Greg Smith (Northwest College), and Professor Uzma Z. Rizvi (Pratt Institute, New York), met with Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk, Vice Chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Professor Dr. Tasneem Pal, Chairperson of the Department of Archaeology, and Professor Dr. Noor Ahmed Shaikh, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences, to discuss collaborative research on Mohenjodaro.
The meeting emphasized strengthening international partnerships to advance archaeological research and promote the preservation of the iconic Indus Valley Civilization site. Professor Rizvi, who has led excavation efforts at Mohenjodaro since 2019, presented her vision for further studies, supported by cutting-edge research methods from the Laboratory of Integrated Archaeological Visualisation and Heritage (LIAVH).
With the collaboration of Madam Uzma Rizvi and AIPS, SALU establishing an interdisciplinary center in the Archaeology Department. This center will bring together all departments and different disciplines to work collectively with archaeology like Pakistan Studies, Media Studies, Computer Science, Islamic Studies, Sociology, and others.
Dr. Khushk assured the delegation of SALU’s full support, highlighting the historical and academic significance of Mohenjodaro. Professor Dr. Tasneem Pal underscored the importance of integrating local expertise with international advancements, while Professor Dr. Noor Ahmed Shaikh contributed valuable insights on interdisciplinary collaboration to unlock new dimensions of archaeological study.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone in global archaeological research, cementing Mohenjodaro’s role as a cornerstone in the study of early civilizations.
