Press Release
Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, has restored its 1986-model university bus after four years of being out of service, providing additional transport facilities for female students travelling within Khairpur City. The bus was renovated and made operational by the University’s Transport Section on the directives of Vice Chancellor Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Khushk visited the restored bus and reviewed the transport facilities being provided to female students. During his visit, the students expressed their happiness and gratitude to the Vice Chancellor and the University’s Transport Section for bringing the bus back into service, which is expected to help reduce overcrowding on existing university buses and make daily commuting more comfortable.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Khushk said that the increasing number of students had placed considerable pressure on the University’s existing transport facilities. He expressed hope that the restoration of the bus would help ease overcrowding and provide much-needed relief to female students travelling from different parts of Khairpur City.
“Our students deserve safe, comfortable and reliable transport facilities. We are making every possible effort, within our available resources, to improve transportation and other essential facilities so that students can concentrate on their education without unnecessary difficulties,” Dr. Khushk remarked.
The Vice Chancellor further stated that for the past two years, the University administration has been making continuous efforts to secure new buses from the Government of Pakistan and Sindh to strengthen its transport fleet. He added that the University has also been striving to save and judiciously utilise its limited financial resources for the rehabilitation of ageing buses, renovation of deteriorating buildings and improvement of essential campus facilities.
“Despite financial constraints, we remain committed to improving the University’s infrastructure and student facilities. Our objective is to make the best possible use of available resources while seeking additional support from the government. We want our students to focus on their studies, academic achievements and future careers, while the University administration continues working to provide them with a better educational environment,” Dr. Khushk emphasised.
He appreciated the efforts of the University’s Transport Section for successfully rehabilitating the decades-old bus and bringing it back into operational condition. He described the initiative as an example of responsible resource management and the University’s commitment to student welfare.
The female students welcomed the restoration of the bus service and thanked the Vice Chancellor and the Transport Section for taking practical steps to improve transport facilities. They expressed hope that the additional bus would help reduce overcrowding and make their daily journey more convenient.
Engineer Faiz Shaikh appreciated the initiative and highlighted the efforts undertaken by the Transport Section to restore the bus. He said that the initiative reflected the Vice Chancellor’s commitment to student welfare and the effective utilisation of existing university resources.
The visit was attended by Dean Professor Dr. Liaquat Ali Chandio, Engineer Faiz Shaikh, Dr. Sahib Oad, Waseem Kalhoro, Muhammad Pannah Mallah, Amjad Shah and others.
