VC SALU Dr Khushk Forgoes New Official Vehicle to Prioritize Two Electric Shuttle Buses for Teachers and Students, Announces Decision During Debriefing Meeting Celebrating Successful Pre-Entry Test 2027.
KHAIRPUR: October 14, 2026
Press Release
Vice Chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk, has announced his decision to forgo the purchase of a new official vehicle, for which funds have already been approved by the University Syndicate, and instead proposed utilizing the allocation to procure two electric shuttle buses—one dedicated to teachers and the other to students.
The announcement was made during a series of debriefing and appreciation meetings held at the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat on Wednesday to celebrate the successful conduct of the Pre-Entry Test 2027, which witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 5,100 candidates.
Expressing his appreciation for the remarkable collective efforts of faculty members, officers, employees and student volunteers, Dr. Khushk said that the spirit of ownership, dedication and unity demonstrated by the SALU community had inspired him to prioritize facilities for teachers and students over the purchase of a new official vehicle.
“The comfort and welfare of our teachers and students are far more important to me than a new official vehicle. I can continue using the existing vehicle, but our teachers and students deserve better transport facilities. The Syndicate has already approved funds for the Vice Chancellor’s vehicle, but I would prefer that these resources benefit our academic community. Subject to approval by the competent forum, we intend to purchase two electric shuttle buses, one for teachers and the other for students,” Dr. Khushk stated.
He emphasized that universities must demonstrate responsible financial management, simplicity in administration and a genuine commitment to the welfare of their academic communities. The proposed electric buses would also contribute to environmentally sustainable transportation, in line with SALU’s STAY GREEN vision.
Earlier, chairing the debriefing sessions, the Vice Chancellor congratulated the entire SALU family on the successful, peaceful and transparent conduct of the Pre-Entry Test 2027, held simultaneously at the Main Campus, Khairpur, and Ghotki Campus on October 13.
Over 5,100 candidates participated in the test for approximately 2,200 available seats. The Vice Chancellor particularly appreciated the timely commencement and completion of the examination, effective coordination among departments, facilitation of candidates and parents, and the enthusiastic involvement of more than 200 student volunteers.
“The credit goes to you. The SALU family has demonstrated that collective ownership, dedication and teamwork can transform challenges into remarkable achievements,” he remarked.
The meetings also reviewed the overall arrangements, identified areas for further improvement and acknowledged the contributions of various committees and departments.
In another major student-oriented initiative, Dr. Khushk announced plans to organize a Job Fair as an annual event, similar to Students’ Week and the Pre-Entry Test, before the declaration of the relevant academic results. The Job Fair would provide students with opportunities to interact with prospective employers and explore internships, professional placements and career pathways.
He directed the concerned officials to establish contacts with public and private sector organizations to expand internship and employment opportunities for SALU students.
Discussing academic expansion, the Vice Chancellor announced plans to introduce new academic departments and evening programmes in collaboration with faculty members and the University administration.
