Two-Day Professional Development Training Workshop on Capacity Building of Seminar Librarians Held at SALU Khairpur Mirs

The Central Library, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, organized a two-day professional development training workshop aimed at the capacity building of seminar librarians from all departments of the University.
The inaugural session was addressed online by Dr. Yousuf Khushk, Meritorious Prof. who shared his valuable advice and insights for strengthening library services. He appreciated the initiative of the Central Library team and emphasized that capacity building of librarians and staff is crucial for promoting a culture of research, knowledge-sharing, and quality education at the University. He also underlined the importance of linking seminar libraries with modern digital resources to facilitate students and researchers.
Mr. Waqas Ahmed Channar, resource person from the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, delivered an insightful session on modern trends and best practices in library and information management.
Earlier, Dr. Saifullah Shaikh, Convener for the Central Library, and Mr. Jaffar Raper, Librarian, warmly welcomed the participants. Dr. Ali Raza Lashari, Coordinator, Students’ Society Center, highlighted that collaboration between seminar libraries and the Students’ Society Center will open avenues for student-led learning activities, book reading circles, awareness seminars, and research facilitation programs. He added that empowering librarians will directly benefit the student community and enhance academic culture on campus.
Dr. Riaz Ahmed Shaikh, Assistant Director QEC, underscored the significance of professional development in ensuring academic quality and meeting accreditation standards.
Distinguished faculty members, including Prof. Dr. Hisam Din Shaikh, Dr. Ali Nawaz Somoro, Dr. Mashooque Ahmed Mahar, Dr. Zaibunisa Memon, and Dr. Zaheer Ahmed, along with clerical staff, seminar librarians from various departments, and four nominated students from each department, actively participated in the training.
The workshop proved to be a meaningful platform for professional learning, knowledge sharing, and student–faculty collaboration, setting the foundation for future joint initiatives. The training activities were effectively facilitated with the support of volunteers from the Students’ Society Center.
