An interactive session on “Organisation and Stakeholders Relationship for the Development of Institutions” was held at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, bringing together academia, government, civil society and students to discuss how stronger stakeholder relationships can contribute to sustainable institutional development and create greater opportunities for young people.
The programme was jointly organized by the Institute of International Relations and Peace Studies and Students’ Societies Centre, Shah Abdul Latif University, and Bhittai Social Watch & Advocacy (BSWA), in collaboration with the Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sindh. Secretary Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sindh, Mr. Munawar Ali Mahesar, attended the programme as Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor SALU, Meritorious Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk, said that sustainable institutional development cannot be achieved in isolation. Strong institutions, he said, are built through meaningful relationships among universities, government departments, civil society, communities and other stakeholders based on trust, shared responsibility, mutual respect and common goals.
Prof. Dr. Khushk said that when stakeholders become genuine partners rather than occasional participants, they develop a shared sense of ownership and contribute more effectively to the growth, sustainability and development of institutions.
The Vice Chancellor particularly appreciated the strong and longstanding collaboration among Shah Abdul Latif University, Bhittai Social Watch & Advocacy (BSWA) and the Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sindh, describing it as a meaningful example of how academia, government and civil society can work together for young people.
He acknowledged the valuable support previously extended by the Sports & Youth Affairs Department to SALU’s sports, student and youth activities and appreciated BSWA’s continued partnership with the University in youth development, peacebuilding, social harmony and community engagement. He expressed confidence that this three-way partnership would further expand through joint initiatives in sports, leadership, skills development, technology, peacebuilding and youth empowerment.
Prof. Dr. Khushk said that SALU’s 42 active student societies were providing students with opportunities beyond the classroom to develop leadership, teamwork, volunteerism, communication, social responsibility and community engagement. He emphasized that universities must connect academic learning with opportunities that enable young people to become responsible citizens and contributors to national development.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Mr. Munawar Ali Mahesar appreciated SALU’s efforts to provide young people with constructive platforms and said that students must be given meaningful opportunities, institutional support and exposure to develop their potential.
He said the Sports & Youth Affairs Department was keen to further strengthen its partnership with Shah Abdul Latif University and BSWA for youth development and empowerment. He assured full support for SALU’s upcoming Mega Students Week, particularly its sports activities, and expressed his commitment to supporting the University in organizing a Technology Expo, where students could showcase their innovative ideas, technological skills and creative projects.
Mr. Mahesar also announced that youth hostel facilities under the Sports & Youth Affairs Department would be available to SALU students, subject to availability and applicable procedures, to facilitate their participation in youth programmes and activities across Sindh.
The Secretary appreciated the vibrant role of the Students’ Societies Centre and commended student leaders, volunteers and members of various societies for their active participation in academic, social, cultural, peacebuilding and youth-oriented activities.
He particularly appreciated Mr. Khadim Mirani, Executive Director, BSWA, for his longstanding association with Shah Abdul Latif University and acknowledged BSWA’s contribution to youth engagement and social development at the University over the past 13 years.
Dr. Ali Raza Lashari, Coordinator, Students’ Societies Centre, briefed the Chief Guest about the structure, functioning and achievements of the Centre and highlighted the contribution of 42 student societies towards leadership development, volunteerism, peacebuilding, social awareness and community engagement. Representatives of different student societies also shared their ongoing activities and future plans.
Dr. Amjad Ali Saqib, Former Chief Instructor, NIPA Karachi, delivered an interactive talk on organizational development and stakeholder relationships. He emphasized that effective institutions require strong coordination, communication, stakeholder engagement and shared responsibility among government, academia, civil society and young people.
Mr. Sarfraz Korejo, Director, Institute of International Relations and Peace Studies, welcomed the distinguished guests and highlighted the importance of strengthening linkages among academic institutions, government departments and civil society organizations. Mr. Fida Mahesar appreciated the efforts of Dr. Ali Raza Lashari and the Students’ Societies Centre, while Abdul Jabbar Kheseli presented the vote of thanks.
Earlier, Mr. Munawar Ali Mahesar visited the Students’ Societies Centre, interacted with student society representatives and planted a Neem sapling in its central lawn as a gesture towards environmental sustainability and a greener university campus.
The delegation also visited SALU’s Peace Corner, where Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari briefed the visitors about various joint initiatives of SALU and BSWA aimed at promoting peace, tolerance, social harmony and youth engagement.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Khadim Mirani reaffirmed BSWA’s commitment to further strengthening its partnership with Shah Abdul Latif University and the Sports & Youth Affairs Department in youth development, peacebuilding, social responsibility and nation-building.
The event was attended by Mr. Ayaz Hussain Mahesar, Mr. Farooq Shah Rashid, Mr. Ali Dino Gopang, Dr. Ramzan Kolachi, Dr. Aijaz Shaikh, Mr. Akbar, Mr. Asad Abbas, Ms. Shahr Bano, faculty members, student society representatives, volunteers and students.
The programme concluded with a shared commitment by SALU, the Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sindh, and BSWA to transform stakeholder relationships into sustained institutional partnerships for youth leadership, sports, innovation, peacebuilding, social development and nation-building.
