Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, held a significant cheque distribution ceremony today at the Students’ Society Center, disbursing Rs. 76 lakh in Need-Cum-Merit Scholarships to 211 deserving students. Each student received Rs. 36,000 to support their academic pursuits.

The event was graced by Vice Chancellor Meritorious Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk as the Chief Guest, alongside Mr. Abdul Sattar Mangi, Chairman of the Usher and Zakat Committee Khairpur, as the Guest of Honour.

Addressing the gathering, VC Dr. Yousuf Khushk lauded the Sindh government’s efforts, particularly the initiatives of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, in ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder students' education.

He said , Today is not just about the distribution of financial support; it is a celebration of merit, determination, and the bright future of our youth. These scholarships are a symbol of our commitment to ensuring that no deserving student is held back due to financial hardship. Education is the most powerful tool we can offer our next generation, and by supporting your journey, we are investing in the future of Sindh, Pakistan.

Dr Khushk also thanked to provincial Minister Sherazi and provinical Secretary Mr Mureed Rahmon for his meritorious support for relasing the funds for deserving students .

Dr. Khushk recalled that scholarship funds from the previous two years had lapsed before he assumed the role of VC SALU, but he commended his team for ensuring the funds were distributed in a timely manner this year.

This initiative underscores SALU’s dedication to empowering students through financial aid and skill development programs, aligning with the Sindh government’s broader educational agenda, Dr Khushk told.

He concluded with a strong message "investing in education today builds a prosperous Pakistan tomorrow."

Mr. Abdul Sattar Mangi and Mr Saleem Tanwari (Chairman, & District Head Usher and Zakat Committee Khairpur) praised Dr. Yousuf Khushk’s leadership in ensuring the funds were distributed efficiently, unlike previous years when they remained unutilized.

Professor Dr. Liaquat Ali Chandio, Convener of the Need-Cum-Merit Scholarship Committee, detailed the rigorous selection process. He stated that only students meeting strict eligibility criteria were selected.

He urged students to focus on their studies, assuring them that hard work would lead to success.

Mr Tanwari announced plans to increase scholarship funds in the coming year, reinforcing the government’s commitment to supporting underprivileged students. He credited the PPP leadership’s vision for enabling such initiatives.

Prof. Dr. Liaquat Ali Chandio (Convener), Masood Memon, Prof. Dr. Khalida Mahar, Dr. Muzaffar Sirohi, Dr. Ali Raza Lashari, Saleem Tanwari (District Officer, Usher & Zakat), Director Finance, Registrar SALU, and Assistant Registrar AC2 SALU.

Deans, directors, faculty members, and university officials including Deans Professor Dr Ameer Hussain Shar, Professor Dr Mushtaque Ali Jakhrani, Directors Professor Dr Khalida Mahar, Professor Dr Farman Mangi, Dr Mahar Khadim, Imran Sommro, Waseem Kalhoro and others were also present, reaffirming their collective commitment to student welfare and academic excellence.
