SHEC Indigenous Scholarship Cheques Distributed Among SALU MS & MPhil Students in Khairpur Mir's

The Vice Chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur, Meritorious Professor Dr. Yousuf Khuskh, distributed scholarship cheques to students selected under the Sindh Higher Education Commission (Sindh HEC) Indigenous Scholarship Program for the academic year 2025–26. The ceremony took place at the Syndicate Hall in the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat.
Under the program, Sindh HEC awarded 10 scholarships totaling Rs. 2.3 million to SALU Khairpur. The recipients, enrolled in MS and MPhil programs for the 2024 session, were selected from various departments following interviews conducted by the Institutional Scholarship Award Committee (ISAC).
The selected scholars include Aisha Akbar and Abdul Qadir (Urdu), Ms Iqra Mughal, Ms Iqra Karim Sahito and Tilok Chand (Chemistry), Muhammad Zahid (Teacher Education), Imran Ali (International Relations), Salva Asad (Pakistan Studies), and Ameena Ali and Ruksar (Biochemistry).
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khuskh congratulated the scholars and urged them to complete their research within the stipulated timeframe. He emphasized the importance of publishing research papers and contributing to society through meaningful academic work. He encouraged students to engage with relevant organizations and professionals, conduct interviews, and rely on authentic data to strengthen their research.
Dr. Khuskh further advised scholars to consult government departments and review prior research to enhance the quality and relevance of their work. Highlighting the value of indigenous research, he expressed hope that the selected topics would help address local issues and contribute to societal development.
He also stressed that research recommendations should be implemented and shared with relevant government authorities.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the selection committee’s efforts in ensuring transparency and merit throughout the selection process and in the timely distribution of scholarships.
In turn, students expressed satisfaction with the academic facilities and research support available at the university and thanked the Vice Chamcellor and administration for its continued encouragement.
Professor Dr. Mustaque Ali Jakhrani, Head of ISAC and Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, noted that each student received a cheque for Rs. 230,000 to support their academic and research activities. He added that all selected candidates met the eligibility criteria, which included a CGPA above 3.00, enrollment in a recognized institution, non-employment status, and approval of their research synopsis by the Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB). The selection process was conducted purely on merit.
The final decisions were made during a meeting of the ISAC, attended by senior faculty members, including Professor Dr. Mustaque Ali Jakhrani (Convener), Professor Dr. Riaz Ahmed Shaikh (Member), Dr. Munir Ahmed Qazi (Member), and administrative officials Farhan Latif Memon (Member) and Zohaib Shafqat Memon (In-charge SFAO).
Among others, Professor Dr. Akhtiar Ali Ghumro and Dr. Sahib Oad were also present at the ceremony.
