VC Dr. Khushk Launches Transformative Initiatives to Empower Female Faculty and Staff at SALU, Khairpur.
A
meeting with all SALU female faculty members and staff was held at the Syndicate Hall under the chairmanship of Meritorious Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk, Vice Chancellor, to improve the university environment and enhance facilitation for female faculty members and staff at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur.
After detailed discussions, the following key initiatives were decided upon, with immediate directives issued to concerned officers for implementation:
1. Shuttle Service for Faculty Members:
Directives were issued by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk, to Mr. Shah, Transport Officer, to initiate a shuttle service between the Faculty of Natural Sciences and the Academic Block, with a particular focus on facilitating female faculty members. The service will operate hourly from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM to ensure smooth transportation for lectures.
2. Priority Help Desk at Directorate of Finance:
Mr. Ali Akber Shaikh Director Finance was directed to establish, a dedicated help desk/focal person will be established at the Directorate of Finance to prioritize and expedite financial matters and bill processing for female faculty members.
3. Construction of Faculty Apartments:
Engr. Ghulam Asghar Shaikh, Project Director (Works), was directed to prepare a PC-I for constructing a four-story building comprising 24 apartments. These apartments will be allocated to Grade-17 and above female faculty members/officers with school-going children, subject to the relevant conditions. The tenure of allotment will be capped at 10 years.
4. Improvement of Female Facilities on Campus:
Mr Tahir Khasqeli and Mr Ali Ahmed Kandher both Administrative officers were directed to improve signage and markings for facilities designated for female faculty and students across the university. These enhancements will ensure easy identification while maintaining a professional and supportive environment.
5. Mandatory Official Email IDs for Female Faculty Members:
Sayed Muneer Shah Rashidi The Network Administrator was instructed to issue official email IDs to all female faculty members. Usage of these email IDs is now mandatory for all university communications, replacing paper-based applications. Faculty members must also copy their Dean/Sectional Head and Registrar when submitting applications.
6. Establishment of University-Managed Day Care Centre:
Recognizing the needs of female faculty and staff with young children, the university administration has decided officially to established a professionally managed Day Care Centre on campus. While earlier efforts by faculty members had temporarily addressed this need , this marks the first time the Day Care Centre is being operated under university management to ensure sustainable and high-quality care for children. Under the Convenership of Dr Wahid Bux Jatoiee , Pro-Vice Chancellor, and Deans will visit the facility to oversee its readiness and operations.
7. Quick Communication of Circulars:
The Registrar, Dr. Zulfiqar Shaikh, was directed to ensure prompt dissemination of circulars through official email IDs and designated WhatsApp groups for female faculty members and officers to enhance communication efficiency.
8. Gym Facilities for Female Faculty and Students:
The Director of Physical Education, Mr. Muhammad Murad Pirzada, was instructed to reserve the gym for two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening exclusively for female faculty members Staff and students. Female gym trainers will be made available during these hours for assistance. The finalized schedule will be displayed prominently at the gym.
The female faculty members, including Prof. Dr. Tajnees Pirzada, Prof. Dr. Khalida Maher, Prof. Dr. Irum Rani, Prof. Dr. Sumya Shah, Prof. Dr. Agha Nadia, Prof. Dr. Samina Rajper, Dr. Zubeda Bhatti, Dr. Sahera Chandio, Dr Gul Afshan soomro

Dr Shaista Pathan, Dr. Zeenat Kanwal, Dr. Shahida Ameer , Dr. Humaira Akram, Ms. Saiqua Ahsan, Ms. N.I., Ms. Azra, Dr. Tahira, Dr Paras Niaz, Dr. Tooba Shafq, Shaikh, Dr shazia Solangi ,and Dr. Qurrat-ul-Ain actively participated in the discussions and shared valuable feedback during the meeting. A few members expressed their gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk, for his visionary leadership and the transformative initiatives aimed at empowering female faculty and staff at SALU.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Vice Chancellor emphasized that all members of SALU are part of one academic family, and the administration remains fully committed to implementing these resolutions to create a more inclusive, conducive, and supportive environment for female faculty and staff.
