The 16th Meeting of Academic Council of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur was held at University presided over by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto.

Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto welcomed the learned members of Academic Council in the meeting. He said this is highest body of the academic affairs of this University. Dr. Ibupoto maintained that University education in Pakistan is basically is a great privilege and Universities are considered as moral centers of change and social uplift. The existence and the success of Universities ensure the national existence and success of the nation. He said the Universities not only contribute in the economic uplift of the country but also bring about social reforms, enlightenment and intellectual awareness among the masses.

Dr. Ibupoto said it is matter of immense pleasure that Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur fulfill this national responsibility with pride and academic excellence in Northern Sindh Province. The Vice Chancellor said I have not compromised on academic excellence, my team has accepted academic, administrative and financial challenges.

The Members of the Academic Council highly commended the proactive and dynamic administrative, academic and financial efforts taken by the Vice Chancellor for the betterment of the institution. They also appreciated the policy of the Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto for adopting the mechanism of transparency and tangible reforms at main campus and its sub-campus. The Members assured the Vice Chancellor that they will render their expertise and services for the enhancement of quality education and better services to the students.

After detailed deliberations, various important decisions were taken. The minutes of 15th Meeting of Academic Council were approved.

The Academic Council awarded PhD Degrees to 25 Research Scholars in different fields and Faculties. Mr. Ghulam Sarwar Channa, Mr. Muhammad Amin, Mr. Akhtar Hussain, Mr. Abdul Wadood Kakar, Mr. Liaquat Ali Chandio, Mr. Zaheer Hussain Soomro, Syed Irteza Hassan Kazmi, Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Rajpar, Ms. Zeenat Kanwal Shar, Mr. Hussain Amur Jumani, Mr. Sajid Hussain Mirani, Mr. Muhammad Shaban Jamro, Ms. Benazir Solangi, Mr. Mansoor Ahmed Soomro, Mr. Muhammad Aslam Korai, Mr. Muhammad Bachal Korai, Mr. Abdul Hafeez Memon, Syed Shakir Ali Shah, Mr. Muhammad Hanif Laghari, Mr. Ghulam Muhammad Mangnejo, Mr. Shahid Hussain Dahri, Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Shaikh, Mr. Kewal Talreja, Mr. Sikandar Hussain Soomro, Mr. Inayatullah Bhatti and were awarded PhD Degrees in Botany, International Relations, Urdu, Commerce, Public Administration, Chemistry Archaeology, Economics and Pakistan Studies while the Academic Council also awarded M.S/M. Phil Degrees to 346 Research Scholars in various fields and Faculties.

The Academic Council approved the recommendations of the Board of Faculties of Management Sciences, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, Natural Sciences and Arts & Languages.

The M.S, M. Phil and PhD Degree Program policy received from Higher Education Commission, Islamabad was implemented with some minor modifications by the house.

Dr. Muhammad Haneef Noomrio, Prof. Dr. Tajnees Pirzada, Director Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Dr. Samina Rajpar, Director ORIC, Dr. Naveed Ahmed Shaikh, Director QEC, Advocate Badaruzaman Kamboh and a large number of learned members of Academic Council attended the meeting.
