INFORMATION DESK FOR AVAILING SCHOLARSHIPS INAUGURATED

Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur inaugurated the Information Desk for availing information and Scholarship Opportunities for Undergraduate Students and Scholars at the Department of Public Administration set in collaboration with Inter-University Consortium for the Promotion of Social Sciences (IUCPSS).

Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said this is a significant milestone to establish this desk. He said I am optimistic that we will disseminate the information to the students and scholars from this desk to avail scholarship opportunities for different scholarship schemes sponsored by various donors as well as national and international organization as result, the students and scholars will be benefited. He appreciated the contribution of Mr. Muhammad Murtaza Noor, National Coordinator IUCPSS for the establishment of this desk at this third largest Public Sector University of Sindh.

Mr. Muhammad Murtaza Noor, National Coordinator IUCPSS commended the uniting efforts of Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto for providing better facilities to the students and scholars. He said owing to his hectic schedule, the Vice Chancellor has spared his precious time to grace the event. By establishment of this desk at University, we will strive to hunt more scholarships from different philanthropists and donors for the students and scholars, he added.

CHEQUE DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY OF INDUS SCHOLARSHIP HELD 

The Cheque Distribution Ceremony of Indus Scholarship was held at Vice Chancellor Secretariat, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor gave away the cheques among the needy and meritorious students of Institute of Business Administration awarded by Abdul Fatah Memorial Trust.

Talking to the cheque recipients, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto remarked that I appreciate the generous gesture of donor who extended financial support to the needy and meritorious students of the Institute. He said I am optimistic that you will properly utilize this financial assistance and after availing a job you will assist the needy and meritorious students on the same footing. Dr. Ibupoto applauded the efforts of Director Institute of Business Administration Prof. Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari and his team for adopting transparent and judicious procedure for the award of this scholarship.

Prof. Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari, Director Institute of Business Administration said the students that you have proved your performance on the basis of your merit; you have been awarded this prestigious scholarship. He stressed the students to contribute in future financially to the needy and meritorious students as social responsibility. He also briefed the Vice Chancellor about the salient features of the scholarship.

Total Rs. 171000/- were distributed among the 17 needy and meritorious students of various classes.

PHD OPEN DEFENSE SEMINAR HELD IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY

Ph. D Open Defense Seminar was held in the Department of Zoology, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur presided over by Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor. Ph. D Research Scholar Ms. Shabana Mangi defended his research on the topic “Systematic and Biogeography of Elateridae (Coleoptera) of Sindh, Pakistan” under the supervision of Dr. Waheed Ali Panhawar and co-supervision of Dr. Abdul Manan Shaikh.

Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto appreciated the research work presented the scholar. Dr. Ibupoto remarked that the research scholar has embarked research work in line with the modern trends of research. He said we are committed to provide better and possible facilities to our research scholars.

Ms. Shabana Mangi defended her research work. She said this research work will benefit the society and also will pave a way for future research scholars. She said that she has conducted the research work in the 23 Districts of Sindh Province. Elateridae are commonly called as Click beetles. She revealed that Elateridae are severe pest of agriculture crop, this causing damage to agriculture crop.

Prof. Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Mashori, Incharge Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences shed light on the significance of research in the society. He said that the Department of Zoology is conducting quality research on different aspects related with the field of Zoology.

External Examiners Dr. Bhai Khan Solangi, Professor, Department of Entomology, Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam, Dr. Ayaz Ali Qadri, Professor, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, Research Supervisor Dr. Waheed Ali Panhawar and Co-Supervisor Dr. Abdul Manan Shaikh Jamshoro also spoke on this occasion. They commended the research work presented by the scholar.

Dr. Naveed Ahmed Shaikh, Director Postgraduate Studies conducted the proceedings of the Open Defense. The Open Defense Seminar was declared as successful.

INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY ORGANIZED AT SHAH ABDUL LATIF UNIVERSITY KAHIRPUR  

An International Mother Language Day was organized at the Institute of English Language & Literature, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur presided over by Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice-Chancellor.

Speaking to the participants, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said that languages are a major tool to communicate and Mother languages directly reaches the heart. He said that its prestigious to speak in one’s own language. But unfortunately, today’s generation is feeling shame in speaking their own language. He appreciated the students for their beautiful performances.

Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Director Institute of English Language & Literature highlighted the importance of mother languages and shed light on the status of Sindhi language according to ethnologies of languages.

Mr. Abdul Qadir Dayo, along with his team, presented the digital story on variation in Sindhi language. Mr. Azhar, Ms Iqra, with their teams, presented the adaptation of G.B Shah’s drama Pygmalion in Sindhi language. Ms Masooma Inayat and Mr. Sajjad Gul presented their skit on Sindhi Boli. MS Hafsa, Ms Masooma and their team presented their documentary on languages spoken in. Pakistan. Ms, Soohan, Ms, Kanwal, Mr. Jawad, Ms Seema, Ms, Aysha delivered their speeches. Ms Soohan Soomro and Talha Channa were hosts of the event. Mr. Abdul Rasheed Soomro read poetry of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitiai to show his love for Sindhi Language.

Mr. Tanveer Hussain Mangnejo, the organizer of the event lauded the efforts of the students who participated in program. He also highlighted the importance of linguistic diversity and the role of the youth in it. Prof. Mukesh Kumar said that our students have once again proved that they can be torch bearers of mother languages. He stressed upon the use of mother languages.

EXTENSION LECTURE ON “GROWING RELIGIOUS INTOLERANCE IN SOCIETY: CAUSES AND PRECAUTIONS” HELD

An Extension Lecture on “Growing Religious Intolerance in Society: Causes and Precautions” was organized by the Institute of Islamic Studies, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur presided over the lecture program while Prof. Dr. Saifullah Bhutto, from Quaid-i-Awam University of Engineering Sciences & Technology, Nawabshah was the keynote speaker.

Speaking to the participants, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said Islam is the religion of peace, tolerance and co-existence. He said we have to adopt rational approach to behave properly with the people of the other religions so the concept of live and let live to be accomplished practically. Islam is a universal religion which accepts the existence of other religions. Dr. Ibupoto commended the efforts of the Director Institute of Islamic Studies Dr. Sajjad Ali Raeesi for organizing this extension lecture on very important topic.

Prof. Dr. Saifullah Bhutto said that religion is the source of inspiration. He said it is the time to promote the inter-faith harmony, inter-religious tolerance and acceptance to other religions so the society could be peaceful and tolerant. Dr. Bhutto said process of peace narrative, dialogue and discourse may be preferred in order to avoid any sectarian strife in the society so the religious scholars, media and civil society could play their due role for the tolerant society and the promotion of real essence of religious tolerance so we could avoid from intolerant mindset.

Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences accorded vote of thanks. He said with the help of good character and patience we could establish religious tolerance in our society.
Earlier, Dr. Sajjad Ali Raeesi, Director Institute of Islamic Studies welcomed the Vice Chancellor and Guests. He also briefed the academic and research activities of the institute and also shed light on the objectives of the extension lecture.
