Day Three

The Four-Day Thespianz National Sufi Folk Festival jointly organized by the Thespianz Theatre Foundation, Karachi and Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur continued at University on second day.

A dialogue on Sufism and Tassawuf was held. Syed Waqar Hussain Shah Sajjad Nasheen, Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, Dr. Syed Mehdi Raza Shah, Sajjada Nasheen Dargah Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, Syed Muhammad Javed Sadiq and Masood Lohar participated in the dialogue.

Syed Waqar Hussain Shah Latifi said Sindh is the land of peace. Latif is the first who coined the concept of global village. Sufism teaches about pain for others it is spirituality. Religion and Sufism uphold humanity. Sufism is the source of inspiration, it is balanced life. He said the legacy of Sufi School of Thought may be promoted.

Dr. Syed Mehdi Raza Shah said, the Dargah of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar is the model of Sufism where the masses of all religions pay their tribute to Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar. It is part of interfaith harmony because all the participants are performing Dhamal because there is no difference of color, creed and religion. He said it is high time that the tendency of militancy could be eradicated.

Syed Muhammad Javed Sadiq said Sufism is the intimation of pain and Sufism is self controlled ideology. Sufism is the doctrine of universality based on tolerance and interfaith dialogue. Mr. Masood Lohar moderated the session. Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah presided the session. Dr. Shah said, teaching of Sufism is tolerance for mankind and the Sufis of Sindh are the model preacher of real face of Islam.
Mr. Munwar Ali Wassan, Member Provincial Assembly of Sindh was the chief guest. He said it is matter of rejoice and pleasure for me that Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur is promoting the soft image of the institution broadly and promoting the essence of Sindhi culture and other diversified cultures of Pakistan. I am proud that I remained one of the alumnus of this Alma mater. He stressed the students to strive for competition and acquire education with spirit. He thanked the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah for inviting him on this auspicious occasion.

After this session, Dhol Performance, Nigara Chmta Shehnai, Safr-e-Pakistan String Puppetry Show was also held. The artists across the Pakistan performed. The five river culture of Punjab was presented including their life style. At the end, Qawali session was also held. Jamshed Sabri and Naveed Sabri presented the famous Qawalis of Sufi poets.

On Saturday September 21, 2019, the Sufi Kalams of Sachal Sarmast were presented by the Sufi singers Bhooral Faqeer, Bhatti, Waryal Faqeer and others. These Sufi singers presented the traditional Sindhi Dhamal and also performed music on the poetry of Hazrat Shah Latif, Sachal Sarmast, Bedal, Bullay Shah and others. The session on journey of Kashmir Folk was also presented. Kashmiri artists Shaikh Abdul Basit, Imtiaz and Nadir Ali from the valley of Kashmir performed the folk kalams of famous Sufis Baba Bullay Shah, Khuwaja Fareed and others.

Cholistani Thari Dance was also part of the day. Krishan Lal Bheel performed famous traditional instruments and sungs cholistani Sufi songs of various Sufi poets. Qissa Khuwani Bazar Sufi Pashton Tradition was also presented by the artists of KPK. Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah presided over the third day events. Dr. Shah remarked that the purpose of this Sufi festival is to teach our students the essence of patience, respect and tolerance in the society in order to establish a tolerant society.

Vice Chancellor said Thespianz Theatre Foundation is striving for the promotion of culture of Sufism and tolerance in the country. This is its evidence. A large number of teachers, officers, employees, students and civil society organization witnessed the festival.
