Day Two

The Four-Day National Sufi Folk Festival jointly organized by the Thespianz Theatre Foundation, Karachi and Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur continued at University after inaugural session. At the night, Wahid Allan Faqeer performed Sufi songs. Wahid Allan Faqeer belongs to the legacy of prominent Sufi and folk artist Allan Faqeer.

Saieen Zahoor is a famous folk performer of Pakistan. He also performed Sufi and folk songs of various Sufi Saints of Pakistan. Nighat Choudhry, Classical Dancer also performed on the theme of peace, love, tolerance and humanity in to classical dance on poetry of famous poets like Moulana Jalal-uddin Roomi, Amir Khusro, and Faiz Ahmed Faiz.

The colors of Sindh were presented in line with the Sufi folk substance and narrating the rituals and folk practices in the Sindh Province performed by Thespianz Artists. Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah, Vice Chancellor witnessed the above events. Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Shah said the Sufi Artists performed in very well and portrayed the true picture of the Sufism and Folk culture of Pakistan. It is the need of the time to fight against the militancy, extremism in order to bring peace, harmony and interfaith dialogue in the society so our country’s soft image may be highlighted in the comity of the nation, she added.

Meritorious Professor Dr. Muhammad Yousuf Khushk, Pro-Vice Chancellor also shed light on the performance of the artists. He said these artists are the Ambassador of Peace and the custodian and the preacher of love and fraternity. Prof. Dr. Imdad Hussain Sahito, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences also spoke and appreciated the patience and discipline of the students. He said our students are peace lover and well disciplined.
