SALU Exhibition Showcases Chemical Innovations for a Greener Future

The ACS SALU International Chapter, in collaboration with the Institute of Chemistry at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), successfully organized a Chemistry Poster and Model Exhibition centered on the theme “Innovations for a Greener Future.”
The vibrant event, held at the Institute of Chemistry, brought together faculty, students, and academic leaders to showcase scientific creativity and promote sustainable solutions to environmental challenges.
The exhibition was formally inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of SALU, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yousuf Khushk.
In his address, he commended the initiative, underscoring the critical role of scientific innovation in achieving environmental sustainability. He emphasized the power of collective effort, stating, “If we work together, no one can resist the development,” and encouraged students to focus on their education as the foundation for the future, with teachers acting as their guides.
During a detailed tour of the exhibition, the Vice Chancellor engaged with the participating students, carefully reviewing their posters and models. He posed insightful scientific questions and expressed his admiration for the depth of knowledge and innovative research presented. He appreciated the leadership role of Dr Khakida Mahar and extended special appreciation to the faculty members Dr. Nazar Hussain Kalwar, Dr. Bhajan Lal Bhatia, Miss Azra Ansari, and Dr. Jamshed Raisi, along with the dedicated members of the ACS Students Chapter, for their pivotal roles.
Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Wahid Bux Jatio, who also serves as the Faculty Advisor of the ACS-SALU Chapter, acknowledged the instrumental efforts of Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Ali Jakhrani, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Khalida Parveen Mahar, Director of the Institute of Chemistry, in ensuring the event’s success. He further praised Dr. Bhajan Lal Bhatia, Faculty Advisor of the ACS-SALU Chapter, for securing funding from the American Chemical Society. Dr. Jatio noted that Dr. Bhajan’s continuous mentorship and dedicated service have played a central role in strengthening research culture and expanding international visibility for SALU’s chemistry community.
Director of the Institute of Chemistry, Prof. Dr. Khalida Mahar, officially welcomed the participants and recognized the tireless efforts of the faculty. She specifically thanked Dr. Bhajan Lal Bhatia, Prof. Dr. Tajnees Pirzada, Prof. Shamroz Bano, Prof. Dr. Gul Afshan Soomro, Dr. Jahangeer Patojo, Mr. Mansoor Ali Kalhoro, Dr. Muhammad Aslam Korai, Ali Ibrahim Shar, Azizullah Rajpar, and Waheed Ahmed Soomro.
The spirit of the exhibition was driven by active student leaders, including Faraz Ahmed Kanhar (Senior President), Abdul Wasiu (Joint Secretary), Sundeep Kumar (Senior General Secretary), Sundeep Lovha (Treasurer), and a team comprising Mirza Akram, Azhar Amur, Asia Rajper, Shaheena Sangi, and Tanzeela Manzoor. Their enthusiasm and coordinated teamwork highlighted the commitment of young scientists at SALU to advancing greener technologies.

By presenting models and research ideas aimed at tackling pressing environmental issues, the event not only celebrated scientific creativity but also reinforced the university's steadfast commitment to fostering sustainable solutions for a greener planet.
