SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILLANI INAUGURATES SHAHEED MOHTARMA BENAZIR BHUTTO CHAIR AT SALU

By following the SOPs of COVID-19, Ex- Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah Jillani inaugurated the building of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Chair (SMBBC) at Shah Abdul
Latif University, Khairpur established with the cost of Rs. 40 Million, funded by the Government of Sindh.

Speaking on this occasion, Syed Qaim Ali Shah said I am highly thankful to Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah, Vice Chancellor for inviting me to inaugurate this Chair. He said, Dr. Parveen Shah has contributed a lot during the eight year span of time. Her services are marvelous for the promotion of education, research and development.

Syed Qaim Ali Shah said this Chair will embark research on the various themes related with the gigantic and towering personality of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto related with the foreign policy, democracy, constitutionalism, human rights, women empowerment and revival of democracy in the country. He said, Government of Sindh has also established Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Chair at University of Karachi also.

Syed Qaim Ali Shah said Khairpur remained glorious city in term of education at the time of Khairpur State, the education was free. He said, I wrote letter to Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto for the establishment of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, Divisional Headquarter and Radio Pakistan. He said, I tried to avail the NFC Award, during seventy years pendency the NFC Award was not availed by the Sindh, as resulted Sindh received Rs. 190 Billion. He said 18 th Amendment is a milestone achievement for provinces which provides financial powers, and provincial autonomy. He said, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was the pioneer of the 1973 Constitution; it is called as Constitution of Consensus. This credit goes to Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah accorded warm welcome to Syed Qaim Ali Shah on his arrival at University. Dr. Shah said, I am also extremely thankful to Syed Qaim Ali Shah who supported me generously administratively and financially to run this University during my entire tenure. I proclaim manifestly that behind all buildings, physical, digital infrastructure, peace and harmony and expansion in this University stands tall and prominent personality like Syed Qaim Ali Shah indebted unwavering services for the promotion of education across the province also.

Dr. Shah said the SMBBC is the initiative of Government of Sindh, its key functions are to conduct research sessions and programs on the life of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. Dr. Shah also briefed Syed Qaim Ali Shah about the recent developments. She said, University has been nominated for 9 th International Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award from the
Professional Network Ethical Business. We have inked MoU with American Institute of Pakistan Studies.

Dr. Parveen Shah remarked that Khairpur is the Hub of Universities with the efforts of Syed Qaim Ali Shah. These Universities are operating their programs successfully.
Prof. Dr. Syed Asad Raza Abidi, Director SMBBC briefed Syed Qaim Ali Shah that allied facilities are available in the Chair i.e. Seminar Hall, Audio Video Facilities, Computer Labs,
Museum etc. He said, Rs. 10 Million has been earmarked by the Government of Sindh for the purchase of books for this Chair.Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Hussain Mahar, Dean Faculty of Physical Sciences, Prof. Dr. Imdad Hussain Sahito, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Ali Junejo, Dean Faculty of Management Sciences, Advocate Manzoor Hussain Larik, Dean Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Syed Noor Shah Bukhari, Registrar, Prof. Dr. Ghulam Abbas Shar, Director ORIC, Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Director Media & Public Relations, Mr. Ghulam Shabbir Phulpoto, Controller of Examinations, Engr.
